half walls as exterior wall makes the game think the room is outside

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.93.146.1020
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? cottage living, island living, seasons, cats and dogs, city living, get together, get to work, werewolves, dream home decorator, realm of magic, parenthood, vampires, paranormal, tiny living, backyard.
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? make a room, put a half wall as exterior wall, let it snow
What happens when the bug occurs? half walls as exterior wall makes the game think the room is outside
What do you expect to see? half walls should not automaticly make the game think its outside and fill the house with snow and frosted inside doors.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? No

I hope there will come a way (for example with testing cheats on, shift click on a room to get an option to make it be seen as indoors or outdoors) to be able to switch if a room is indoors or outdoors so we as builders can use even more creativity in our builds.

    Hi, there
Though I can't decide if this post is meant to convey a request or a desire to resolve a problem, currently, that is by design.
In the Sims 4 program, a half-wall is only recognized as a half-wall, no matter where it is used and for what purpose.
Only spaces enclosed by one continuous full wall are recognized as rooms. So a space enclosed by a half-wall is not recognized as a room even if it is surrounded by a continuous half-wall.
Even if a space is surrounded by full walls, it is not recognized as a room if it has walls that are not continuous.
The presence or absence of a roof is not a condition for being a room.
If you want to resolve your issue, the only way to keep snow out of the house is to click on a half wall and change it to a full wall.
I can't tell from the SS alone what the overall structure of the house is, but if you change all the half-walls that separate the house from the outside space to full walls, this phenomenon will stop.
If you really want to use the half-walls, you will have to put up with the snow accumulation...

Excuse me but did you seriously think that a half wall by magic would prevent snow, rain, wind and so on from passing through the wide open half? There is a reason why you have never seen a house with half walls as exterior walls.

  • No, I didn't expect that. the thing is also that there is a roof on top and snow still comes through, even though I put it on in such way that, even though it's a half wall, it completely covers the room. you can see that in the pictures. and you do see it, half walls as exterior walls, at least in the sims. it is used to create levels in the roof.

Thanks for the reply. I hoped there was an easy fix without changing it to full walls because its important for the structure (I sometimes make exact replicas of houses on the internet). so for me, the easiest fix will be to just change the season and build further.

    Hi, there
    Sorry to hear that.
If the goal is to recreate it accurately and you are not concerned about Lot, there is the way to build in a world where it doesn't snow, such as Oasis Springs, Sulani, or Stranger Ville.
If it rains, the indoors won't be flooded. So it would be a little better, I think.
I think the snow is designed to accumulate in Sims 4 to visually let you know if it is a room or not, indoor or outdoor.
In reality, there may be some blowing in, but if you have a roof, you don't get snow all over the house.
Hope you enjoy the building the replica as you devise your own.
