Help Creating Landings! - Build Mode, TS4

Hiiiii, this is my first post so hope I'm doing it right.

I can't make upstairs landings in my houses!  See 13:50 on this video of Deligracy's: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oLQZC8Ai8jQ&t=821s

Whenever I try to cut out space in the floor around my stairs, it either deletes the whole upper floor (as Deli demos), but when I cut across the stairs to make a room as she does to "rectify" this, it deletes the stairs!

Can anybody help, what am I doing wrong?

    @fransimspea16 Sorry for your frustration! I have just tried creating the opening over the stairway in the manner Deligrasy demonstrated (drawing railing/fencing across the top of the stairs to complete the 'room' over the opening at the top of the staircase, then deleting the floor with the sledgehammer. This method did work for me in the home. 

    • I would like to confirm, did you do the step she mentioned of drawing the 'railing/fencing' 'room' for the area of the opening, then drawing a piece of railing/fencing across the top of the stairs to complete the 'room'  over that 'opening', then deleting the floor with the sledgehammer?
    • Alternately, you could try the method I have used in the past that's demonstrated in this video: https://youtu.be/YctI60okBeE
    • It may be helpful if you activate the MOO cheat while doing this. [Shift+control+c (press enter), type "bb.moveobjects on" in the box in the upper left of your screen, no quotes (press enter). A message should appear that says "MoveObjects cheat is ON". You can turn the cheat back off by saving and exiting or by typing "bb.moveobjects off" in the box (press enter) - A message should appear that says "MoveObjects cheat is OFF".]
    • Can you please provide a screenshot?
    • If nothing is working you could upload your home to the gallery and provide me the exact name of the lot, your name in the gallery, and a screenshot of where you want the stairs and opening added and I could make you a demo and video in my game.
