Household sims won't age up on birthday without cake interaction

My household sims will not age up on their birthday unless I bake a cake and perform an 'age up' interaction. Without cake, at midnight their birthday will finish and they will stay the same age instead of auto ageing up. I then have to manually age them up with the cas.fulleditmode cheat.

It's incredibly annoying with a large household because you end up with birthdays every couple of days. Without auto ageing up, my sims are living off cake. They're all getting out of shape and constantly have the nauseous 'Too many sweets' moodlet. At this rate, I'm going to have to start throwing out cakes after using them for the interaction.

Info:

I use minimal script mods – just MC Command Center and LittleMsSam's 'More Visible Wall Objects' and 'More Holiday Icons' (all are updated to the latest versions). I use both CC and cheat codes.

I play on Mac, and I have the following installed: expansion packs [GTW], [S], [CoL], [FR], [LD]; game pack [SD]; free pack [HP].

  • Hi x_starflower_x

Please follow these steps to test  your game on vanilla game with no mods/cc

    • Create a backup of your save game
    • Move your mods folder to the desktop
    • Delete the following files from your user folder.
      • localthumbcache
      • Any lastException Files
      • Any LastCrash files.
    • Test on the backup of your save as you will loose all cc on the save and see if the same error occurs, then report back.
  • I don’t think it’s supposed to be exactly midnight when they auto age up? For me, it’s sometimes a day or so after the birthday, like it’s trying to give you as much chance as possible to avoid the sad missed birthday moodlet - I did an experiment once, aging one twin up when it said it was their birthday and leaving the other to see when he would auto age up. I think it was more than a full sim day later, and I decided that it would mess with the ages too much to be worth skipping birthdays for storytelling purposes.

As a side note, you don’t have to eat the cake for every birthday - when I play big families, I have them blow out the candles and then immediately put candles back on the cake before anyone can take a slice and put it back in the fridge for the next birthday.
