How do I add a gate to a deck fence - without it ending up in midair…?

Pretty sure this isn’t supposed to happen… the only way I’ve ever been able to add a gate to a fence is when I’ve placed the fence by drawing - but drawing a fence around a deck doesn’t solve the problem.

The game is fully updated.

  • @Rename23321 I tested and currently I'm finding that in order to add the gate on the fencing in a configuration/porch like you have pictured I had to draw a new one tile room in front of the tile you want the gate on, delete the walls and replace the wall where you want the gate on with fencing, add the gate, then sledgehammer the one tile 'room' I added. My test Sim could use this gate then.

However, you cannot do this in the position of your build (one tile from the end of the property). You will need to move the whole building or the porch back one tile first.

You can add the gate to the fencing, though, in this area I made like yours if you make the fenced area have no foundation You can do this by beginning the fence away from the building and dragging it toward the building. Lately sometimes I have to draw the fencing in an open area, pick up the piece of fencing, and place it adjoining to the building. I think I recently even had to do this with MOO on to get it to work at a couple of joining areas in a recent build. You may need to experiment a bit:

  • @Rename23321Additionally, after adding the gate in this manner, I was able to then select 'move lot' and move the whole home and porch back to within the one tile space from the lot end (like in your image) and the Sim used the gate just fine.

Edit: Sorry for the second reply. My computer was fighting with the reply options earlier and it did not allow me to do anything but a 'Quick Reply', which it would not let me edit or add photos to.
