Hi there so a simple question here. I have a large family household that I have split into two.I've moved out the teenagers into a separate house and now they're coming to hang out with the parents and play with their siblings on the original property. The problem is that when I am the visitor and I'm not in control of the household of the parents of my Sims - every time I want to sleep or shower or do something else the father would tell me that it's inappropriate and would try to kick me out even though we are Family ties. It's very annoying and I want to stop this I want to play two different households because I cannot control 8 different Sims on the same property madness so what I want to do is to be able to visit each other's houses and use all of the things in the household without being nagged.

And "Always Welcome" reward trait is how one does that. It's inexpensive for a reason.

How to Allow Friends and Family to Use Life's Necessities When Visiting?

If you have the reward points, you can give your Sims the "forever welcome" reward trait, which will let them cook, shower, etc. at anyone's house. (If you don't, you can use cheats to give yourself the aspiration points to buy it.)
I agree that family members should be allowed to sleep or cook, even if they've moved into their own home. I also find the list of things that are "inappropriate" strange.
Random Sims visiting my home: Eat Lobster Thermidor out of my fridge without asking if it's okay or not (what if that's for a party tonight?) and then take a mud bath in my tub.
My Sim, after spending the night at their fiancee's home: Decides to make fiancee breakfast while they sleep in and is thrown out for being "inappropriate."

I hate when this happen and whole-heartedly wish it would receive some sort of an update.
Cooking for your sister who just had a baby? Taking a shower at your parents' house? Sleeping at your friend's guest bedroom? INAPPROPRIATE! ...sigh

I think not just family members. But everyone in general. I will give you an example I have this one character she took on a task of becoming successful with zero money. To survive I have to couch surf her at neighbours because all she has is property. However this issue happens with her too and she's not a family member which I think is ridiculous. I think there should be a button something that will say "Grant permission" "Ask to crash" "Ask to use household" SIM can ask permission after developing a regular average relationship with the person or already having a relationship developed like with family members. And so then the household can give them permission stay or hang out for as long as they want. They could add options of how many days or for how long etc. I honestly thought that the button that says give residence key was doing that. I thought that if I give somebody my residence keys this already means that they can come in and use the fridge and do whatever they want because that to me felt like established trust.

Thank you for giving me an option to fix this issue. However I do think that this is one of those issues that should have absolutely been fixed in the development. This is not okay for such a popular and known game to miss out on things like that. Maybe there is a way to give them feedback regarding this. I know for example cacao games takes customer feedback very seriously they evaluate and review every single issue bug or feedback that is coming from the players and they fix it.

Oh boy then you really going to hate the fact that my family member Sam just visited her parents house and decided to go swimming for some odd damn reason and froze to death... Another thing that needs fixing they just randomly go into the pool when they shouldn't be and yet they enter the house and wear winter clothing which is also annoying... Should be the other way around. But anyway yes she died luckily I didn't save the game and I was able to restore the poor girl ...
Yeah two issues here I'm having...

@theopisisters I was thinking the same thing too about the 'residence keys' doesn't this allow you to come and go as you please, only I don't remember if this includes making meals or taking showers (with non family sims, okay...I think we might get that, but household members or best friends should be excluded from the 'average' non family pool. But, I think the key only works in the City right. I don't know if normal houses get them, so that puts even more limits on what other sims can do at your house.

@theopisisters Working as intended - that is, it is coded that way on purpose, and the in-game solution is the Always Welcome rewards trait.

I read that as the "mechanical" end of a process by which my sims are negotiating "how can I help without being in the way?" and it is one of the first traits I purchase for my Sims.

Otherwise, it is simply the game as written that some needs are best addressed at one's own home, and that guests ARE guests, and not at home when visiting.

@SindocatI never said that it was a bug. I said that it is not done right. Yes we don't want strangers to come in and use your bed and showers. Guests are guests no one is arguing that.
But there should be an option to stay over long term etc. You have to be able to see both perspectives. My Sims visit their parents house alot, their siblings come visit each other. And in this case - it's annoying.

Yesss I agree with a lot of point made in this thread! We need to make more noise about this whole issue!
All of this is so immersion breaking and basically the reason why I rather only play with young adult couples. (I would play with DU if that pack wasn't so broken atm! Don't buy it!)
1) Random sims in my house need to stop eating food from my fridge and taking baths and Giving Rude Introductions to My Pets. I should at least be able to warn them and kick them out for inappropriate behaviour.
2) Related sims and close friends from outside the current household should be able to cook and stay the night, also when it's the sim I'm currently playing as and I'm visiting a family household.
3) I should be able to "Call to meal" with coffee and tea too so I could entertain my guests like it's common in a lot of cultures around the world. Giving a cup of coffee as "Friendly Gift" doesn't do it, they'll never drink it and just put the mug in their pocket to spoil.
