The game will not by itself pan to another household than the one you are currently playing. Are you playing with mods/CC?
It appears that the infant was removed (culled) by CPS because of having needed a diaper change for too long (Green cloud).

I’ve never had one taken just because they were stinky - but if the game wasn’t taking care of the infant it was probably also starving, which would get it taken away…

No CC, playing on console. Maybe it I just panned by on coincidence, the household is cluttered, so it seems like the camera moves on it own a lot when I’m in it, lol.
Ahh, that would maybe make sense. But, I’m sure I had just changed the diapers. For some reason all the infants were in sync, 3 blowouts and 2 regular dirty diapers. A true moment of parental stress.
All that said, it wasn’t the active household at the time so, I’m not sure what the infants moodlets were.
This would be the first time I ever had a kid culled for neglect. Wouldn’t they also be removed from the family tree? Or are they treated like deaths?

I believe the idea is that they’re taken away by child protective services rather than died, but the game doesn’t pretend they never existed. The remaining family generally gets sad moodlets.
There was a bug a while ago where the babies in unplayed households weren’t cared for automatically while you visit the lot. Did you get any warning about them being about to be taken away?
