Journal refresh request

So, one of the things I always give to my child/teen sims (and thereby adults by extension) is a journal. It is great for writing skill AND elevating emotional control (on those sims I want to HAVE high EC, hehehe).

Anyway, the thing I struggle with is the clunkiness of purchasing a journal in game (phone-> gifts) and then going into build mode to choose a new swatch. Conversely, I can start in build mode, choose the swatch, then drag it to the sim's inventory in live mode, but I was wondering if perhaps we could just have all the swatches from the gift purchasing screen?
