Latest save not registered when exiting to main menu then resuming

Hi... this is really irritating and boiling me so bear with me if I'm incoherent. Basically when saving I manually hit "Save As" to one of my two saves rotationally. So EG: I have SaveFile X and SaveFile Y. I hit "Save As" to SaveFile X as I'm playing with SaveFile Y. Then Save As to SaveFile Y the next time I save, ad nauseam. 

My problem is the title: My latest "save" did not register! When I messed something I press exit to main menu then resume. I remember precisely that I saved JUST MINUTES BEFORE exiting to main menu and the game takes me back to TWO DAYS in-game days instead! So that's A LOT of lost progress. Why didn't the save overwrite I made just minutes before not count??? 

And yes, this happened twice in a (real life) day of me playing the game.

    Hello, I'm not using OneDrive and I play offline. I've since played further and the bug didn't happen after I tried reproducing it so it's a little confusing me atm.

    Not sure if this is relevant but I always delete the localthumbcache before starting to play.

    are you using oneDrive ?

    If you go to Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Saves what dates do those files have ? Could you post a screenshot of that (please black out all personal information).
