Lots not saving progress and reverting back to original build

Hello, so my current issue after the recent updates is that whenever i go to build something and exit the game, the lot goes back to its original build it had before - at first it would show me the new build on the map and the original in build mode, but now it shows original in both but the lot name and traits i changed to the new build are there in both states. I play with mods and cc so i removed them all from the folder to see if it fixed itself and it did not, so i know it's not just the fact that i'm waiting for mods to update, it must be something else and i'm at a loss for ideas now - i've been playing the game on the same save file since 2019 and i don't even want to imagine the possibility of the save file now being corrupted, it would devastate me. Does anyone have a solution for this or know what's causing it? I have tried repairing the game and it didn't help either.

  • Hi xCottageCorex

is it your currently played house only or also the neighboring ones ?

Are you on PC or Mac ? If you are on PC, can you check if turning on Memory Boost makes a difference ? Do make sure to create a backup of your save before changing.

Do you have the same issue on a new save too ?

Hello, I play on my laptop (it’s a windows) and I don’t actually know what memory boost is. I’ve not tried it on household lots as I’m too anxious to, it’s just builds I’ve been trying to complete, and how do you backup saves? I’ve not tried in on a new save either.

  • This is happening to me as well (build resetting to base game lot when opened even when showing a new lot in world view). I hope there is a solution! I keep having to save my progress on lots to the gallery to make sure I don't completely lose my builds but that gets tedious, especially for small changes. I'm afraid to open up any custom lots that aren't saved to the gallery.

xCottageCorex  This might sound like Capt. Obvious, but are you sure you are saving using the "Save" or "Save As" option before exiting or are you using "Save and Exit"?  There have been reports linking the "Save and Exit" option to save file corruption and other issues.  Tbh, it sounds like the game is not saving properly or your game is encountering an error when you load and reverting to an earlier save version when you next load.  Either way, it could be a sign of corruption.

KozzmaMonsoon  Your issue sounds like the save corruption issue reported in this bug report.  Neighboring Houses show as Default/Empty | EA Forums - 11903590

For both of you:  Please read the linked post and if it describes what you are seeing, give it an upvote and add any comments you may have.

One sure sign of save file corruption like that in the above linked post, is to go to Willow Creek and open all the lots.  If any lot you land on shows a house on it on the world map but is empty when you open it and the sims are either on the sidewall in front or are missing, your save is mostly likely corrupt.  While the bug fix team is working on the issue, there is no known fix for it at this time.  The only thing you can do is salvage as many of your lots and sims that you choose to and start a new save.

    Hope this helps.

Hi, I always just do „save and exit”, is that the issue? I will test out the other options tomorrow after work and come back to this discussion and post updates.
