My Sims cannot go up the stairs or into the 2nd floor bathroom

Platform: PC

Packs: Realm of Magic, Pets, Vampires, Laundry Day Stuff, Get to work, Holiday

Any Mods or CC: Yes

I have this problem with my sims. My friend made a home for my sims and uploaded it onto the gallery. I downloaded the home and put it in a lot. I have been adding a few house items from the game (non-cc or mod related) into the home. Everything is going well and fine, nothing wrong with the stairs or the bathroom, nothing wrong with my sims, until they suddenly all "break." My sims for an unknown reason cannot get into the 2nd story bathroom, they have the bubbly over their heads with the footprint image crossed out. I hadn't changed the bathroom from when I downloaded it into the gallery. My sims were able to go into it, and then suddenly unable to. My sims have a study on the 3rd floor. My sim was working on his computer on the 3rd floor when he went to work and came back that same day he couldn't go up the stairs anymore. I had added things to the study days before this happened, so he was going up and down the stairs peacefully. He was even teleporting there (since he is a spell caster) just fine and will no longer teleport up there. After the 3rd-floor glitch started occurring, the stairs to the 1st floor started to bug out as well, and my sims weren't able to go upstairs after that. I even disabled the mods and cc to see if it was the problem, but the problem was still occurring. I am very confused. Please help?

I will post the build in the gallery called: Wizardly

Thank you

  • @toastydiannasaur I would like to download the lot and test in my game but I cannot tell which lot it is. I don't see any lot called Wizardly, though there is one household with that name. There are many lots with 'Wizardly' in the name, though.

Edit:  So... I finally found a lot by going to the in-game gallery and ticking the "Include Custom Content" box. I see by the listing that it includes custom content. I don't play with any mods or custom content. Do you have all of the same custom content in your game that your friend used in the build? Do you have all of the same packs? If not, sometimes the game will substitute items and that may also be part of the issue. If you have all of the same packs and custom content as your friend, you may want to make sure that both of you have updated all of the CC and that the CC was all updated when the lot was made plus when you downloaded and placed the lot?

I will go ahead and try it out in my game now and see what happens, but all of these factors can be an issue, so I thought I would mention this first.

  • @toastydiannasaur Please reference my previous comment and edit. I pressed the button to download the lot I mentioned that I found in the library, and though it shows as downloaded/saved, it is not showing in my library. I restarted and it still is not showing. So I'm afraid I cannot test in my game. I would recommend that you check on and try the things I suggested in my first post. Good luck!

  • I've had similar problems - 1 a sim not going to have a bath or 2 going in to a room that's been locked (although, I've never had a problem with them going up stairs)...

1 - A light fixture has got in the way (if you're using a Tudor-style chandelier you'll see sims walk around it rather than walk directly under it) and I've either had to choose a smaller light or place the light somewhere else...

2 - A door locked when I've saved the lot and then downloaded is still locked... Just simply click on the door and make sure the door is not locked - it could be locked for 'everyone' or 'everyone <insert one of your friend's characters that isn't your currently played sim>'... That's happened to me when I've locked a door for 'everyone but <character name>', then saved a lot, then downloaded it to save building time (effectively a Copy/Paste thing) and then introduced a new household to that copied abode...

Sometimes, that, or when something like I've mentioned, might mean they wouldn't even move from the spot from where they're at, at the moment of clicking and could be the reason the sims aren't . I'm not playing with Real of Magic or Vampire Diaries, so I don't know if it could be something else (like, say, the door or stairs not being wide enough?)...

Apart from what I've mentioned from my own experience, I'm not sure, but I hope this helps (if only to rule something out) to resolve your issue...

    Hope you're well.

    Regards,

    Jonny.
