My teen isn't aging up

I'm not sure where to ask this so here I am. I've never had trouble aging up my sims, but I have a teen who will not age up. The cake with candles gives him no options to age up. I've tried the promote career highschool. Nothing. I tried the shift and left click to age him up, no option for that. If it stays this way his younger sibs will overtake him. What are the actual criteria he needs to age up? Auto is off, but that shouldn't make a difference if I'm trying manually to get him out of the house. Please if you can help me, let me know😕

    No mods no cc.

Also is queuing bugged or is that just the sims? I have to sometimes queue something like 'bathe toddler' and eventually get someone else to do it. They all just stand around doing nothing, as if the game is hung except there are still things moving, just the sims stop cooking, doing homework, working out etc. I have to log out into the main menu and back into the game.

  • Hi @sunwisecircles - You probably already know this, since you said you have aged other Sims, but just in case - the cake is not going to have an option called "age up" or anything like that. To age the sim, you have to have him blow out the candles. That is the trigger for aging up. Please forgive, if you already know this, just wanted to be sure.

@SheriGR is giving you great advice in the event that you don't have the option to blow out the candles when your teenager clicks on it. Hopefully she can help you get it figured out soon. Happy simming!

  • Hey there! I recently had the same problem and I think I figured it out. My problem as it turns out, was as follows: the parents of my sim were both vampires and young adults. My sim (the one who I wanted to age up) was a teenager, meaning his next step in life would be turning into a young adult. However parents and children cannot be the same age which means I have to age up my parents first! Hope that helps! In any case: have a great day! :D

@396890 Interesting discovery! That seems problematic for immortal supernaturals. Or hadn’t your vampires actually achieved that yet?
