@Jeaohn I must admit, I was pretty frustrated when I realized that this is the reason one of my builds had a deleted staircase - beginning after the update right before Island Living. Plus it began placing backward on certain lots - those across the street to or perpendicular to the one where it was built. I plan to detail a bug report about it (backwards placement), and know some others also having that issue, but have not done that one yet. I spent about 4-6 weeks on that home, and it was placing perfectly everywhere in my thorough play tests. I'm sure you can imagine I was not happy. I finally gave up and took it down from the gallery. I will remodel it at some point and make sure it places right, again, before re-uploading. <sigh> I hear your frustration.
On the other hand, I realize it's possible that my home just hit some combo f features that glitched with something like the new stilt foundation's code in that patch - or code preps needed for it to work - or something else behind the scene. Likewise with the stairs that I had a short half-wall one tile under. I have since found I can still move certain items under the taller part of the stair opening, just not all items. I would just recommend no half walls there and not using moo to force anything there, since it is more sensitive now - to avoid deletion of stairs on placement. Actually, you cannot eve add the half-wall under stairs now, I think, so that's a clear indicator.
Some things are a trade-off in functionality/code that we are not aware of on the user end.
Please don't give up on the game. I find that when I remodel to accommodate an issue I re-think some things and an often-times happier with the build in the end. I hope you will have something like this experience in this case, and that you will continue to enjoy your game. 🤞
