Re: Mysterious Roof Trim showing in some spots

@JNarz19

Are you asking how to get rid of that trim running from the right end of the building up to the just short or under the center dormer window?

It's hard to tell but it looks more like wall trim than the edge of the roof trim.  I don't think it's a frieze due to its size.  So, try lowering the walls so the roof is invisible and click on the floor on the highest level to see if there is a defined room where the walls and ceiling has been deleted that are above the trim.  It there is, try deleting that to see if it goes away. If it does, then it will be wall trim.  You can either use undo to put it back and then try to delete it if you can get it highlight with the curser or just rebuild whatever you need that got deleted like the dormer before.

Tbh, that's a guess and I'm not at all sure if that is what is going on.  But it is something for you to try, if you haven't already.

Hope this helps.

@CGrant56 Hi, Yes I am trying to get rid of the trim running from the right end of the building up to under the center dormer window. I tried deleting rooms. Inside the build (I'll show photos) the two tiles to the left of where the trim drops off and to the left are two rooms (Marcus and Paolo from Partihaus). The trim is visible on the whole other side of the building, so it does seem to be from the roof.
I can can change the color to white and it still does the same thing. Also, the room where the extra trim is showing was a lofted area (no floor and no ceiling for the floor below) but even when I added a floor in, still happens.

I'm currently using the square roof trim but if I use other ones I can still see it happening.

I rebuilt the same lot about a year ago and seem to remember running into something similar but now that was a dozen or so lots ago, so the details are a bit fuzzy on what I actually did.  But I think my reno was more extensive that yours judging from the pic.  I widened the building as much as I could, so I ended up demolishing the entire thing a bit at the time, more or less, and put in a full 2nd floor and made a usable attic as well as multiple basements and a new floorplan throughout.  And to make a usable attic, I deleted the roof and used half gable roofs.  I do remember getting the curve right took forever since the roof was 3 pieces instead of the original 1.  😃

Another thing you could try to see is if it caused by the roof or not is to delete the roof and see if goes away or stays.  If it goes away, then it's the roof for sure.  If not, it's something else.

If you want to, I'm willing to take a look at the lot to see if I can find what's wrong and find a fix if you are willing to upload it to the Gallery.  Just reply here with the lot name and your user name on the Gallery, if different than the one you use here (JNarz19).  It will be tomorrow before I could take a look at it so no rush.

    Hope this helps.

@CGrant56 Wow that is unexpectedly kind, thank you! I uploaded it, same username @JNarz19. I can cover it up with friezes, and there were originally some friezes on this lot. I'm mostly done (just working on Jade and Eva's rooms).

    Thank you!!!

Lol!  My pleasure.  It's one of the things I do here but thank you for the kind words.

But not to be a nag or anything, you didn't say what the name of the lot is.  So, if you don't mind....  Just want to make sure I get the right lot.

@CGrant56 HAHA I did not, it's Factory One Roof Glitch. I figured out how to fix it, going into that other save I deleted all of the main roof, dormers, etc. Then saw the ceiling was missing in a bunch of the rooms (the friezes had cut through the original building and even with them gone, the ceilings were not cohesive). So basically, we are not likely to run into this issue except when EA makes builds 🙂 lol.

Thank you so much!!! When I'm done I'm going to call a new upload Factory One Reno and credit you in the description.

Ok, I did have a little time left this evening before I head to bed, so I went ahead and downloaded it. I did manage to find it - not hard.  And even found a fix.  Something very simple.  It was the roof trim after all.  All I did was change the roof trim to another and change it back to one you used, and it went away.

It's always a good idea to have complete ceilings.  Less problems I've found.  And you're probably right.  The premade builds do have some interesting issues, particularly the ones in earlier expansion packs.  If you really want a challenge, try remodeling Discotheque Pan Europa.  😃  I won't spoil the surprise, but whoever built that one used some techniques you don't see every day, if ever.

And no need to mention me in your rebuild upload.  That's very kind but no need.  I'm glad I could help.  You have fun!
