Rooms not recognized/registered and cannot place floor tiles on terrain

Description of the Bug:

I am experiencing a issue in Build Mode where the game completely fails to recognize newly built structures as enclosed Rooms. Specifically, when I try to build a path on Terrain. Using the wall / fence tool to create a closed square, the game does not register it as a room / floor. Because of this, I am unable to place any floor tiles inside the structure on the terrain. When I try to apply flooring, it doesn't allow me to place it at all.

Workaround found: The only way I can get it to work is by using the pre-made Room Tool (the flat square box) to force the game to create a platform/room, and then manually deleting the walls I don't need. Building it normally with the wall tool is  bugged.

Hello, thanks for trying to help. I watched your video and that is exactly what I did. The bug isn't consistent and I can usually work around it by using the pre-made Room, Platform, or Floor tools (specifically the square ones). This has happened on and off over my years of playing The Sims 4, but lately, it's been happening a lot. As I said, it’s not game-breaking and I can still build since I know how to work around it.

Because the game fails to recognize the rooms, it also means that sometimes no ceilings are generated. When that happens, the game doesn't even show the usual yellow lines to let you click and build a ceiling. To fix this, I have to go to the floor above and manually place floor tiles there instead.

Thank you again for taking the time to test this on PS5. I hope you all have a great day.

  • lalalala_blabla0   Hello!  I was able to create a room with the wall tool and also added tiles to the room on PS5.  Make sure that the walls do connect with each other and are actually completely enclosed.  Please see the below video for what I did.

    https://youtu.be/tUKeA6CNiv0

In the video, you'll see that I created a small room and added the tiles.  Then I created a fenced area, this does not create a room by design, so I had to toggle to placing by tiles using the triangle button.  After that, I created a fenced room and was able to toggle back to placing tiles by room, again with the triangle button.

Is this what you did as well?  Or am I missing something?  Please let us know if you're still having trouble with this.

  • lalalala_blabla0  I tested this on PC and had no problem making a room with the wall tool, custom wall tool or room tool.  I could put floors in all three rooms without any problems whatsoever.  So, that means is the bug is more than likely limited to consoles or just maybe your specific game.  I've asked another helper who has the game on a PS5 to also test this to see if we can narrow it down a little more.

    Hope this help.
