sim has no money

I have been having the same problem for weeks now, every new Sim I create, e.g. today when moving them into a first house her simoleon account was -11960, so I have to use the free realestate cheat, then of course the sim landed outside the house with zero simoleons.  I haven´t used the making money scenario for months, probably a year, this is just making a new Sim and going into the game. No scenario of any description.

Are you doing the Making Money scenario? This scenario starts your sim off with  no funds. 
If you are, you could just start again and choose to start a new save game and not a new scenario.
