Simoleons Gone, But So Is What I Bought

Just started playing Sims 4 yesterday (on Xbox if that matters). I spent most of my time making edits to my house. I spent around 4500 ish, and my balance reflects that, but all of the edits I made to the house are gone and it has reverted back to the standard design. I checked the household inventory, and nothing is there.
