The code is attached to your account and works only once when registering the game.
No matter what computer you have. If you have an account on Origin there will always be this game waiting for you ready to be downloaded. Just install Origin on a new computer and log in to your account.
Download Origin from this link
http://origin.com/download
You can upload your families and houses to the Gallery and then download them from your catalog in the Gallery to your new computer and game. The Gallery works as a warehouse for you
I don't work for EA
After the first registration of the code on Origin, the validity of the code expires. Instead of a code, you now have an account with the game - you do not need the code anymore. How to check? Try entering the code number in the Origin Library on the top right, "add new game" but I guarantee you that it will not work
In addition to what Kreatora says, after you've entered the code into Origin it will likely give you an error of code has been redeemed or something along those lines. This is how you will know the code has already been used.
If you would like to check further, download Origin onto your new computer. Login and go to Game Library and check to see if Sims 4 is there ready to be downloaded.
Installing Origin and Sims 4 onto the temporary desktop won't hurt. You can still after getting a new gaming laptop install Origin and Sims 4 on it and play the game.
