Yeah, maybe it is genetic?
This might be an odd hypothesis but in another game, Wolf Quest, you need to have like 5,000 (don't remember exact amount) exp points for one of your wolf offspring to be white.
So what if you need two master vampires and they need a bunch of vamp points when they woohoo for a kid?
Or perhaps it depends on the amount of generations in a given lineage?
I had a family of master vamps once but that file got deleted. ._. And I wasn't paying attention in that one.
@DeskCoffeeyes, it could be genetic, or based on exp points and genetic, or how long your lineage is, or completely random. 😃 But thanks to your research, the one thing we do know is that it is not based on Aspiration or Personality traits! 😉 The info about Wolf Quest is interesting, and might shed some light, so we will have to see!
The only other thing I can think of is it might have something to do with whether your Vampire was created in CAS or got turned in-game, but that seems like a long shot.🤔
I'm sorry your master Vamp family got deleted! 😢 And I bet you will be paying attention from now on! 😇
Update: I tested 3 different Vampire families (2 with 3 members and 1 with 2 members), with a total of 8 Vampires tested. There wasn't a difference in the color of the bats between a Vampire made in CAS and a Vampire turned in-game. Also, while bat-color might still be genetic, it is not linked to the human form's hair, skin, or eye color. All of my 8 bats tested were the darker type. If the white bat color has anything to do with genetics, it is a recessive trait and probably randomly generated (as if it were a mutation.) 🤨 Also, all bats had aqua-blue glowing eyes, like the one in your picture. 😉
Again, if I find anything about different color bats and what causes them, or if I see a different color bat, I will tell you! 🙂
- Anonymous8 years agoI haven't been able to play in awhile, but I'm starting to think that maybe the game Developers were going to implement them in the game but then decided not to and left the white bat to forever haunt the Debug mode list.
I really hope this isn't the case but I feel like I'm running out of theories to test. I got to around Gen 5 in a lineage of grand masters but still no white bat. .n.- PugLove8888 years agoHero (Retired)
@DeskCoffee, you might be right about that (but I hope you are wrong! 😇 ) It would be cool to have the bats come in colors, from black to white with several grays in between. 🙂 But it was either something they abandoned, or they just changed the color for the video to make it easier to tell that there were 2 bats, and therefore 2 Vampire Sims.
I usually see these kinds of artistic touches to still photos, and concept art, and sometimes trailers, but when the actual EP, GP, SP or game comes out, certain features are no where to be found.☹️ I remember some toys in TS2 that were in the trailer, but not in Buy Mode. Fortunately it turned out they were in the game, you just had to take them out of the toy box, so if you wanted to sell them in your retail store you had to take a bunch out of the toy box before you could put them on your shelves to sell. 🙂 There was also a case in TS2 where a person on the forums was looking for the exact female young adult to put in her game that was shown on the cover of the base game or one of the packs, but the cover to the base game or pack (I don't remember which) was concept art, and that exact Sim was not a Maxis pre-made Sim. We gave her suggestions since the hair and clothing were in the game, but she wanted that exact face. 😞 Then there was the case where in TS3 there was a trailer to a pack and it featured a beautiful modern beach house with lots of stories and balconies, but it wasn't put into the game and a lot of people were sad! 😢
Everytime I think I see a bat that is a different color, it just turns out that it looks lighter next to certain walls or lighting, or at certain times of the day. In the end they all turn out to be the same color. ☹️
Well, if either of us miraculously happen to see a different color bat in-game, we well tell each other! 😉
Happy Simming! 🥳

Still trying to figure this out...
I don't know if anyone has tested this but I had an idea so I thought I'd try it.
Killing a vamp and bringing them back to life via Ambrosia did not make them a white bat.
(The book of life did not seem to work in my game.)
Made a ghost vamp turn another sim into a vamp, no white bat.
When I get home or when I can I will next test of turning a ghost into a vamp will work or turning a ghost into a vamp and then reviving them.
(Not sure if ghosts can become a vamp as ghosts tho.)
