Sims 4 download: Missing Files

Hello fellow simmers,

When downloading The Sims 4 from both EA and Steam on two separate occasions, repairing my game etc. It seems I have an issue of files not downloading properly, this said I am missing files such as my mod folder as-well as other vital folders and cannot seem to fix it, my device is powered by windows 11. It would be awesome if anyone knows what the issue is, Thank you!

  • McKeznieB2010  It sounds like you're looking for user files and folders, one of which is Mods, either in the game's program files or before you've opened Sims 4.  The program files and user files are separate: program files go where you choose to install them, whereas user files are in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4.  So please look there, after you've opened the game once.

If you happened to install the game anywhere inside Documents, please uninstall it and put it somewhere else instead, and before doing anything else.  Having it in Documents can cause a whole host of issues.

I have done that, it has just installed again these are the folders I have:

    • _installer
    • Data
    • Delta
    • Game
    • Support

that is without going into every single folder and listing everything in there, however, still no Mods, and I’m assuming I’m missing other important folders to? I’ve been in game - game settings - Enabled CC, Allowed Script Mods.  Nothing seems to be working? could this be possible user error? I am not the smartest when it comes to technology.

I’ve done that I but that’s the thing, I always make sure it’s in my Electronics Arts folder. And it still does not work. But as said, this may be user error as I’m a bit dull.

  • McKeznieB2010  Are you saying you've installed Sims 4 into Electronic Arts?  If so, don't do that; this folder is inside Documents and is therefore still going to cause problems.  Install to the default location:

    C:\Program Files\EA Games\The Sims 4

If you're saying you're looking inside the Sims 4 folder inside the Electronic Arts folder and don't see the user files, make sure you're in exactly the right location, according to the game itself (as in the link I posted last time).  You can right-click any file or folder and select Properties > General, then look at the Location, and compare it with what the game is reporting.  The file paths must match exactly up to the Sims 4 folder.  If they don't, you're in the wrong location.
