Sims Back Catalogue for Download

So I was excited to get an Xbox Series S and before it was released there was a lot of talk about a huge back catalogue of Xbox games. I've been happily reliving my gaming history with classic purple dragons, orange marsupials and blue hedgehogs. But the games I would really love to see are all of the Sims games. I assume that has to be a decision from EA/Maxis but I could be wrong (cough, sometimes I am).

I've played the Sims since it first began all those years ago and those players who chat to me regularly know my love of Sims nostalgia. On PC it's probably easier to play the classic versions and I see that some players do still regularly play them. I'm a tad bit envious!

So I'd love to see the classic games drop for download to consoles. Us console players put up with a lot. I've just reached the unwanted milestone of 100 glitches in my game. I keep taking breaks from it out of sheer frustration. I miss the days where the only bug in my game was occasional disappearing windows.

One of the reasons I switched to a download console only was the fact that discs degrade over time and I've still got my old discs all scratched up and well loved, so they wouldn't play now even on a series X. As more and more classic games appeared I kept looking for old Sims games but so far no sign.

So it's just something to think about, maybe next time the Sims has another big anniversary. Simpler times, less buggy times.

I could also see financial benefits of adding classic Sims games for download, using older games to generate revenue. So it could be a win for EA/Maxis too. These creations are all great games which I doubt earn them that much money these days. A re release in a new format could kick-start that. So that could be an incentive to do it.

I know plenty of Sims players who would buy them on download plus since it's 22 years since the first game, newer players might really want to try the OG version and some of the lesser known spin offs. I'd buy all of them. That could be a lot of games sold. Sims 3 itself has a lot of appeal because of the custom creations, colour wheel, etc, that people have asked for in Sims 4.

If there were suddenly a load of Sims games added to the catalogue I can imagine a lot of happy people who either loved the old versions or never got to play them. Now that I'm a more experienced player I'd love another try with The Urbz because I remember that was the one I wasn't great at, maybe too starstruck by the Black Eyed Peas popping up everywhere!

It would be a nice way to say, we see you console players... even though we take years to fix your bugs. I've no doubt it would make financial sense too. Maybe they could consider it before the silver anniversary.
