Sims do T-pose and refuse to eat

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.110.311.1020 DX11
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Get to Work, Get Together, City Living, Cats and Dogs, Seasons, Get Famous, Island Living, Discover University, Snowy Escape, High School Years, Growing Together, For Rent, Parenthood, Realm of Magic, Dream Home Decorator, Romantic Garden Stuff, Backyard Stuff, Toddler Stuff, My First Pet Stuff, Tiny Living Stuff, Nifty Knitting Stuff, Book Nook kit, Holiday kit
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Take a premade "family size" or "party size" meal from a fridge and tell a Sim to "grab a serving." Alternatively, tell a Sim to "get leftovers" from the fridge. This occurs with Sims of all ages, from toddler to adult.
What happens when the bug occurs? The Sim goes to "grab a serving" from the plate, but then does a T-pose and the action cancels. The number of servings on the plate does not change.
What do you expect to see? I expect to see my Sim be able to "Grab a serving" and eat it to fill their Hunger need.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? No

I did a Google search about this bug and found some older forums from 2018 that mentioned it, but nothing more recent. I have taken the following steps to attempt to circumvent this problem:

-Remove all mods

-Delete "localthumbnail" package file

Delete "lastexception" file

Repair game

Restart computer and attempt to run game again

Use shift-click to reset the food and the Sim

This happens with toddler Sims and with child/adult Sims. If I tell my Sim to "cook food" he will make a multiple-serving dish just fine and then autonomously grab a serving if his hunger is too low, but then the remaining servings will have the same glitch if I tell other Sims/him to "grab a serving" again. I tried other saves and this problem does not exist, but I went to go recover the earliest version of the save that I have for this family and it still occurs. I have also tried various workarounds, such as trying to put the food on different surfaces, turning cheats on and off, turning on and off bb.moveobjects, putting the food in the Sim's inventory and then telling them to eat it, etc. (and yes, I have also tried having my Sim set the table first so that he would autonomously try to sit at the table to eat, but the glitch still happens)

In the older forums they also suggested things like "Delete your pool from your lot" or "Put an item from the lot into the family inventory then try again." I have deleted the pool from the lot, put things in and out of the family inventory, etc. but am still experiencing the glitch. I have been experiencing the glitch only in the past 24 hours but have not downloaded any new mods/CC/DLC that would have triggered it. Currently the glitch still happens on a vanilla game with no mods/CC installed, and only in one save file. (it's my Legacy save and I've gone through four or five generations in this household so I REALLY don't want to have to give up on this save!)

TIA to anyone who's able to provide solutions!

  • @otakumadness Is it just the one family in that save or all of them ?

Do you have any LastException files in Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 ?

Best is to delete the ones you have, then trigger the error and check if new ones are created.

If that is the case, please upload them to a new post in this thread.

Please either create a .rar file to upload or copy/paste the content into your post.

Deleting the file won't fix your issue. Uploading the file is meant for troubleshooting.
  • I just checked and it's only this one family. Other families in this save don't seem to have this problem.

I deleted all the "lastexception" files and attempted to trigger the glitch again. At first I thought it was fixed because I tried to trigger it again and my toddler sim and her (adult) caregiver both were able to "grab a serving" just fine from a group-sized food. But then other Sims in my family refused to "grab a serving" so another last exception file was created.

Not sure how to create an rar file--the "lastexception" is a txt file, but here is the content from the last exception file:

@otakumadness Could you try if it helps if you delete every single food item you find on the lot, then try again ?

If this does not help, please try the family on another lot to narrow down if its the family or the lot that's causing issues,
