White screen on 'manage worlds', no funds, but no MODS or CC

Hello!

I would like to address a certain problem with my copy of the game, which started appearing on 25th of November (earlier everything worked FINE, with MODS and CC).

Just out of the blue game won't let me pick a world to live in, cause 'Manage worlds' is just plain white. Sometimes, when I get lucky, I can see all of my worlds, but when I enter them, I see only a background and instead of lots - big white blocks with red X and orange triangle with exclamation mark. Furthermore I've got no money whatsoever, even on a fresh start (there should be 20 000 simoleons).

I moved ALL of my MODS and CC, reinstalled the game, everything is fresh and clean, but the problem did not go away. Repairing the game, deleting 'The Sims 4" folder from Documents or localthumbcache.package also did nothing.

Anyone's got a clue, what's wrong or how to fix it?

Appreciate your help.

  • Hi crinrict !

You totally nailed it! That was the problem.

In my case, it was ESET Internet Security, which sort of took over Windows Defender's assignments and probably latest ESET update messed thing up in terms of folder and applications access. What I did to make things right again was adding exceptions in ESET to the following files:

    • C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\EA Desktop\EA Desktop\EADesktop.exe
    • C:\Program Files\EA Games\The Sims 4\Game\Bin\TS4_x64.exe

Thank you so much for your help! 💚

bit of a longshot but are you using controlled folder access on Windows Defender ? That has had the weirdest symptoms when blocking the Sims exe file.

    Hi lathannspell

thanks for letting me know. That is really a bit concerning that the game behaves this way with the antivirus blocking.
