Why am I hearing an evil laugh randomly

I'm unfamiliar with this, but do you happen to be on a haunted residential lot?  That seems like it could be a cause of such a laugh.

Have you noticed any Sims loitering around the home? Evil laughs can happen when there is an Evil Sim in the vicinity, so if you have a random visitor on the doorstep or hanging around outside unless it's a haunted lot as already suggested.

I've had a lot of issues with rowdy uninvited guests at various lots. I can think of one in Oasis Springs where I had to delete Sims from Other Households just to get them off the lot, half the time I didn't notice them till they started making a racket.

No, it’s not haunted. It happens when I’m not on the plot too

There’s sims walking past the plot and that’s it. The only time people arrive at my plot is when they welcomed me to the neighbourhood. The house isn’t haunted.

It's definitely caught my interest lol. It's a strange one! I'll be really fascinated to see what's causing it.

Edit: I've found an old community thread from 2015 with another player mentioning it but no solution was presented. It was happening while the family of Sims was sleeping (shudders!).

 No, I haven’t seen Vlad at all. I’m new to sims but I’m pretty sure he’s only in the vampire pack correct me if I’m wrong. 

if I am wrong, I haven’t seen him. I’ve played two households in the same game and both households do the same thing. It also happens when I’m travelling.
