Why can't I buy any houses or lots in The Sims 4 on Xbox one?

I had just bought this game a few days ago. It was working fine the first day or two. Now whenever I get on, it wont let me play. Ill go to create new Sims, but the point where it won't let me go any further is where you get to choose your city/town etc, and then a lot or already built house. I keep pressing the A button on my Xbox one controller, the click is heard even through the game and my tv speakers, but nothing happens. The areas I try buying are green and indeed under my budget/ funds. It just won't work. Can anyone help me? Its really frustrating because I spent my money to get this game and now I can't do anything except create new Sims that I can't play or do anything with...
