Why did my Sim got abducted by Aliens?

Hi,

The Sim I am watching over currently is a young adult Newcrest resident who works as an engineering intern at Obscure Logistics. In his free time, he hangs out with his friends, his kitten, and his dust bunny. He's never been into telescopes or upgraded tech. As far as he knows, he hasn't even met an alien.

I am not an omniscient Watcher, so I fail to understand what could have triggered this event. For all I know, the Aliens may have mistaken my Sim for another.

Can someone share with me a complete list of all the things that can trigger this event, please?

Sims in the scientist career have a higher chance, as well as having a high logic level and choosing the option to search for the truth on a telescope. Also having a satellite dish increases the chance. Abductions though can happen to any sim. It is just that some sims may have a higher chance than other ones. There are some simmers that are finding that alien abductions are being excessive in their game

Thank you, I didn't know alien abduction could happen to any Sim regardless of context. Now I understand what happened to this Sim, and also why, a long time ago (in 2022), I saw another Sim's roommate get abducted. I find it way more interesting when it's not expected at all, so I'm happy to know it isn't a bug (and could happen again).

There may be a real issue behind this event, because since it happened for that Sim, it also happened two other times to another Sim living in the same neighborhood. That's a lot of abductions!

“As far as he knows, he hasn't even met an alien.” - ah, but is that actually true or not? Interacting with an alien regardless of whether you know increases your chance of abduction. Is it possible one of the neighbors is a secret alien?

I can't say I'm 100% sure there is absolutely no alien they could have talked to, but I know all the Sims living in this neighborhood are non-occult Sims.
Now however he has reasons to be paranoid.
