Why did my single male sim spawn an infant by himself while not being played?

I am frustrated because my newly created single male sim somehow spawned an infant while not being played. I was devastated to find this out when I played his lot for the second time. What's more, the baby doesn't have a mom on the family tree which is even weirder. Please fix this. We don't even live in Strangerville.. like?
