why does it say my pet has a cone on his head?
Hello! It's my first time using this platform. I apologize if I make any mistakes. :D
So I bought the university pack for my Sims game last night, but I hadn't played Sims for a month or two. After downloading it, I began to play and noticed I couldn't get my pet to go into the pet bed manually. (Note: I downloaded the Sims 4 Cats & Dogs Playable Pet Mod earlier in the year, not sure when) My pet usually had problems with going into his bed. My sim would ask him to go and he simply wouldn't. A plumbob would appear with a "?" above his head and my sim would be frustrated. I solved this issue by downloading the mod and learned that in order to get him to sleep on the bed, I had to click "Nap" instead of "Sleep" while I was using him. Once I figured that out, I had no issues with my mods or gameplay. After a while of not playing, I buy the pack then start playing! However, I noticed that when I tried to get my pet to go into the bed, all the actions were available except "Nap". Hovering over it, it said "Cannot do this action with a cone on pet's head" (or something along the lines of that). I thought it was strange since my pet is healthy and has no complications and was definitely not wearing a cone. I tried everything in my power to fix it. Moved a couple times to see if it was the house, moved the bed, tried using the other options, etc. After many unsuccessful attempts, I resorted to searching up the issue, but I came across nothing of the sort. So, I am coming here to ask for help! Thinking about it now, I hadn't checked if any of my CC's were causing the issue, so I will check through them when I have the time. Other than that, I am completely lost and unsure of what to do.
@MalteseGirl5 Another helper has used this mod before for their pets and he loaded that game and confirmed that he also sees the same options you do - including the greyed out option.
He said the author has posted that these types of issues are a known problem at this time with the mod and are caused by the fact that pets are not meant to be controlled in the game. Weird part is that in his game when he removes the mod the options when clicking on the dog-bed go back to the normal options. So the mod seems to successfully remove in his game - unlike when you removed the mod in your game and the options remained.
It seems that if you're willing to ignore the greyed out option on the beds, as long as there's not any other issue being caused by the mod in the game, this is a minor price to pay if you love the mod. Please look up the information posted by the mod creator, though, and keep an eye on the mod. Since you know it's already having some amount of issue in the game, if any other issues arise it would be good to check if the mod caused it - and to monitor the information the author posts. Perhaps you'll be lucky and they'll manage to make a successful update. (Thanks @jpkarlsen 🍺!)
