A sims 4 fan trying out the sims 3 and wow

It's not the skins or content of Sims 3 that I have trouble with as I bought all of it at the time and played it while it lasted.
It's the fact that Maxis now doesn't accept that I have bought anything from their store and I have to download and try to install it every time I try to play. All those messages of "failed to install". I put this down to their asking us to change our login details several years ago when they centralised logins for all sites and now I've found I have to find my original page with the old login name to download anything and install "legally". (someone on the forums told me about this). They appear to list my old login accounts for 3 and Spore on my Origin account but haven't connected them from what I can see.
Playing 4 is such a relief, no trouble. I suppose it's very apparent simplicity appeals to me. I'm learning as I go along but it has more depth than is apparent at first. My Sims seem to learn too.
