- I'm most looking for rabbit hole part time careers for adults/elders. I like that the freelance stuff is a kind of part-time work option, but I also want rabbit hole ones. After that, I'd be game for more CL style careers.
- atreya337 years agoLegendI prefer the city living careers because they allow us to choose day by day. I really like my sims to work from home. But if I have a lot of sims on the lot, it's convenient to send them to work off screen.
I would like to be able to filter careers by type when I choose a career. Last time I checked I could filter out the active career from GTW but it would be nice to filter out the city living careers as well. - GlacierSnowGhost7 years agoSeasoned AceI actually like the career style (with option to work from home) as well, and most of the time I use the "live off of hobbies" approach to money making, but I'm excited about this new freelancer concept and I already like it a lot. I love the fact that I can choose which gig I want, and only have to do so when I want to. So I really hope they make more of these types of jobs.
- I hate active careers! My sims might want to "be a detective" (as part of a storyline I'm creating) or "become a doctor" (again as part of their story) but that doesn't mean that I want to do those things.
What I would like most would be "rabbit hole" careers that still give me a few choices to make. I don't want a scripted list of "do this" and "do that" goals, but options -- just as we have choices about "working hard", "schmoozing with boss", and so on. I'd like more of that, with "chance cards" that are career-oriented and which make an actual difference in the lives of the sims. In Sims 2, it was quite possible to get fired from a job -- or demoted -- if you chose the wrong answer on a chance card. I want some control of how my sims perform on the job but not the tedious, meaningless boredom of following a specific list of goals that are the same for each sim entering that career.
I also like the requirements and the daily tasks, although I think some are a bit strenuous or take a little too long to complete.
Most of all, I just want more career paths, and more choices, with more realistic job titles. I want teachers, I want truck drivers, I want secretaries, I want nurses, I want car salesmen. I'd like to see the old "Slacker" career again. Of course, I can -- and do -- create all these things through my imagination, but I would love to see them implemented in the game.
Oh, and bankers! I really wish we had some sort of financial pack where individual sims could have accounts -- instead of all of the family's money being in one pool. I want sims to be able to gamble, take out loans to buy businesses or to pay for vacations, and do more investing in the stock market.
I'm essentially a realistic-style player, so I want all the realism I can get. Active careers might seem "realistic" but they're not. I can create much stronger realism by using my imagination than by having "goals" spelled out in the game.
EDIT: Typo! - ValiantRedKnight7 years agoSeasoned AceI like rabbit hole careers because I play with multiple sims and it lets me focus on one sim better. I wish the work from home/active careers would get more days off though. Especially active careers.
- Anmirla7 years agoSeasoned AceI prefer a combo, but if I had to choose just one, it would be freelance.
The way this iteration is set up active careers are the worst to me unless I am playing a single Sim. I don't like how we have to choose which Sim to play and ignore the others.
A combo is great when playing families. Sending one parent off to a rabbit hole, while the other parent has the freedom to work (freelance of WFH) while taking care of children at home. Of course, leaving the lot for some of the tasks in the home based careers does require a little manipulation, it's still pretty easy to accomplish. - I very much want more rabbithole careers (especially more 'normal' ones). However, I'll admit that being able to work from home is very beneficial, so I'd be fine with more CL style careers.
Active careers get repetitive after a while so while I don't dislike them, I also don't really crave more. - Fanphoria7 years agoSeasoned AceI like having a mix of all of them.
- Hermitgirl7 years agoSeasoned AceI think these ones work nicely for more standard jobs that I want in the future. I like the mix we have been getting. Basically,I want everything on the poll except more rabbit hole only careers.
- GalacticGal7 years agoLegendI much prefer being able to follow my Sims to work. I also appreciate the option to just send that Sim off and stay with the family. I like having a choice, quite frankly. I use the Road to Fame mod that was updated to augment GF. The latest version allows my Sim to perform away at a concert. That way I can stay with his family and keep his toddlers from getting into the red. For a limited time I would cheat their needs to full, then disable the decay until my Rock Star returned home. But, that gets tedious when there is more than one toddler.
