Alien Hybrid Genetics

I was curious about how alien genetics worked out in other folks' games. mine seems to STRONGLY favor the turquoise skintone. their alien ancestor was the lighter green but that seemed to only carry as far as to my 1/2 alien sims before the turquoise kicked it into full gear. here's my family tree for reference: link. is turquoise rampant in anyone else's game? or is my game just particularly fond of this color? I'd love to see the green more or another color entirely but so far my game has said no thank you at every turn. . .

  • The only way I can figure it is that primary colors (red/blue/yellow) are dominant genes, while secondary colors (green/orange/purple) are recessive genes. Eventually breeding with humans reduces the rate of children coming out as a secondary color, and switch to the dominant gene of primary colors.

    Best guess :#
  • I have a few aliens in my family tree (Young, in my bio) whose pollinator is blue. Both of her original kids (both blue) are married, one to a human, one to another alien, this one green. The one that married a human has three kids that are all blue skinned. The one that married an alien also has three blue-skinned kids. I chose an alien of a different color because I had hoped their offspring might end up with something other than blue skin, but no luck. I did, however, have a set of alien twins born to another sim in the family tree. They ended up with purple skin, but unfortunately, I didn't keep them as they didn't fit the storyline.

One of my hybrid aliens is currently dating another hybrid, who is purple-skinned. I plan for them to get married and have kids eventually, so I'm hoping their children won't all have blue skin.

yeah I'm getting the feeling the turquoise is more common than the others. . . would love to have a purple descendant!

the blue is REALLY strong it seems. and alien colors are strong in general, at least in my game. I've only had one sim born with a human skin color since introducing an alien into the family tree. let me know how the kids turn out!

I don't know about skin color, I kind of have a whole bunch of custom ones anyway and the game always favors those ones instead, but.. one thing I can tell you about alien hybrids is that the vampire/alien kids are very glitchy. Wish someone would fix them! Their appearance is incredibly unstable. You basically have to be very careful when using CAS.

This also happened naturally through gameplay, with no script mods enabled at the time. So I'm honestly just waiting for a patch to fix the kids born from abducted vampires.
  • I wasn't aware TS4 had any genetics beyond randomly picking CAS values from parents at birth. All of my Greenish Alien's children got the same basic color. Might it be an issue with RNG selecting a sim skin color value, but somehow applying it to the alien color pallet?
Yeah, vampire husband getting abducted by the inlaws and sent home pregnant is wrong on so many levels. Not quite as annoying as married sims constantly getting calls offering blind dates.

Oh yeah, genetics have been part of the sims since Sims 2. I think that is one reason why people like the baby challenges so much, to see how much generation 10 ends up looking like generation 1. Traits are based on the whole dominant/recessive gene system, just like irl
  • I just noticed recently that two of my blue aliens are actually a darker shade of blue than the rest of the blue aliens in my family. My pollinator and her two sons are all a sky blue, but the two eldest daughters of the pollinators youngest son are both a sapphire blue (his youngest daughter is also a sky blue). So, I guess there is some variance, but not a lot, as they're all still blue.
  • I have a human-alien toddler hybrid right now and she has that same blue skin tone! Her alien father is full alien and that’s where she got it from but still kinda annoying because I’m slightly worried her children, human, alien, vampire, mermaid, -whatever, will have the blue tone.
  • My human/alien hybrids usually have the aliens parents exact skin color and no alien traits. I am hoping for a mermaid/alien hybrid again.
For fun, here is a pic of the one I had in Sims 3. He ended up being one of my favorite sims

Was this sim just a mermaid with green alien skin?
