All packs prices increased by on many countries

Today, every single pack for The Sims 4, without any previous warning, got the prince increased by 50% without a fair justification on some countries (the one we got was: to match the price on other countries, but it doesn't make ANY sense economically).
That being: for example, in my country: expansion packs are now costing the old price of the base game, game packs the old price of the expansions and stuff packs the old price for game packs.
This is just disrespectful to all the players. There is no macroeconomic reasons for that. As one member on another thread said about the price changes on where I’m from: "It may seem cheap to foreigners, but the new price is 15% of our minimum monthly wage."
A VERY significant number of players are boycotting the game and using illegal ways to download the new packs. I would never do that, but I'm not buying anything again till they are discounted by 50% or costing the the original price again. This is ridiculous, unfair and we are not fools.

  • @mirta000 You quoted the wrong person, I'm afraid. It says that I wrote that, but I didn't. I responded to it. Just thought I'd mention it to avoid any confusion hehe.
  • I just logged in to check stuff packs, but after the price hike I doubt I'll get them at all now. At 9.99$ they were at the high end of what I would be comfortable to pay.
  • For a game that I play almost every night it is worth it to me otherwise I might be spending a fortune on Sky Movies or Netflix. As to other games like Civilisation V1, I played Civilisation V for a couple of weeks before I realised I had wasted my money on a game that didn't suit me.
  • yeah, UK citizen here, not happy with this at all.

i already thought the prices for Sims 4 packs were steep, so i tend to buy them on sale. and now this price increase means we're paying more for content that wasn't even really worth its original pricetag. i could do a lot with £10, it could do myself groceries for a week, i could pick up some new clothes at Primark, i could go watch a movie, i could buy a far better Indie game for what a single stuff pack is worth. i don't even buy stuff packs to begin with, i just think they're pointless and overpriced, moreso now than ever.

i agree that this means US players are gonna see a price hike soon too, and then they'll all complain. maybe it's not your problem right now, in a "out of sight out of mind" sense but it will become your problem. this is what companies do, they test out price increases on non-USA countries (especially europe) and cite "tax increases" that didn't happen, and then once we've gotten fed up complaining about it it's introduced to the US market.

before the days of internet we would of known no better that a $40 game in the US was being sold for £40 in the UK, but now we know and have this information readily available, as well as companies having online distribution these days. so now we have this info and we can make a fuss about it, and that's what we should be doing. sure it's a luxury item, but it's a luxury item EA wants me to buy, so they should be doing a better job of pricing it.
