Such analytical anomalies will happen; how do I know this? One of my first Sims shared on the Gallery, Fedora Dan, is a great example of this. Go ahead and look for yourself if you like, the link to his household is still linked on my signature. Then compare it to my other shared creations and decide for yourself. Do you consider me cheating the system?
I'm not accusing you of cheating the system, but I don't know what to say. When I follow the link in your signature to the website based gallery it shows 662,197 downloads. When I look at the in-game gallery I can't find Fedora Dan, even under your origin id paradiseplanet27.
The in-game gallery appears to a smaller catalog of sims than the website based gallery. It doesn't show several of the top downloaded sims that are in the website based gallery.
Now if I look at the in-game gallery, there are only 4 sims with more than 10,000 downloads. And none of them are the sim I mentioned in my earlier post. That sim was uploaded 2 months ago and the others are 5 to 12 months old. Actually, I can't find that sim on either gallery now. Where did it go?
Mysterious
I don't quite understand what is going on with Fedora Dan either, but it's not like he's invisible to everyone. In fact, part of the success of downloads can be attributed to Maxis favoriting it. - ValiantRedKnight7 years agoSeasoned Ace

Is there any chance you have reported content hidden? Some people have apparently been false flagging. - I'm currently experiencing an issue where I try to sign in to the gallery (website version, not in-game version) and after hitting sign in I'm still not signed in - keep repeating the action but I'm still not signed in.
When it comes to gallery drama, I'm glad my stuff is obscure and has only a few downloads.
I did once re-work a lot created by somebody else - their lot was built on the diagonal and filled a 30x30 lot; I needed it to sit on a 20x30 lot so I re-worked the building so it was parallel to the lot edge instead of sitting diagonally. When I uploaded it I gave the original creator full credit, repeatedly. I was worried though that there would be a backlash, as I later found out the original creator was rather enthusiastic with their use of the stopstealing hashtag, though nothing seems to have happened. - SheriSim7 years agoSeasoned Ace

People take the gallery waaayyy too seriously.
Judging from what comes up in recent uploads (especially the ones with unrelated names) I'm pretty sure that an awful lot of gallery uploads are done by people just trying to save a build or household, not even intending to upload it.
People raise drama treating the gallery like a virtual goods marketplace with actual intellectual property.. which it's not.
I can understand the frustration to some degree, but unlike virtual world trade, The Sims actually is "just a game." At least with mods and CC, there's legit new content. But your sim family or house is part of playing the game, and when people are uploading to the gallery they're rarely using their own new content; they're just uploading a part of their own game. I want to say "if it feels like work, you're doing it wrong," but that's not fair because you can play your own game however you like. But.. you can't expect other people to see it the way you do. It's not reasonable to get mad at other people for seeing the game as a game.
I agree. Most of the time if I upload someone else’s people or houses it is because I have spent time building up skills for a person I added to my family. I will add a hash tag with my name so that if my game goes down and I need to reload I don’t lose all that skill building/relationships. I try to remember and mention that certain sims are not mine. In fact I pretty much stopped downloading other people’s sims to use. But, when I first got into the game, I didn’t know we could re-upload sims with updated skills and such. As far as houses go, I sometimes reupload them for a similar reason, I have changed a house in the inside, or I have downloaded my sims collections in the house. And I always note that it is not my house, though I don’t always remember the original persons name. I certainly don’t mind Maxis having their name appear as original, as I didn’t originally create it, but may have changed it in some way, and didn’t want to lose it if my game crashes. I did make a hospital once with others rooms, and shared it noting the rooms, and the original house were someonelses. I personally don’t really mind people re-uploading my stuff, because I know many do it for the same reason I do, not because I am trying to get downloads from others content, but it’s there in case of a crash. I share my creations to 1) save them for myself and/or 2) think someone else may enjoy having it in their game. "paradiseplanet;c-16801926" wrote:

Hmmm.... So is Fedora Dan currently visible with the in-game gallery to anyone? Does the in-game gallery look different according to my feed/history? Or was he once visible in-game but now is only available through the website gallery?

We have a mystery.
I found him when I searched Dan under item name, and under paradiseplanet27 username, but when I changed my settings to “hide reported content” he disappeared along with like 99% of the most popular.
Edit: So in conclusion, Fedora Dan is just one of the casualties of whoever is baselessly reporting all of the top creations, aided by the fact that EA doesn’t keep track of who reports stuff, and unflagging stuff that isn’t against the rules would probably be a full time job. Color me embarrassed. I didn't even know there was a setting to hide reported content. And now I can find Fedora Dan in the gallery.
I take back what I said about sims with lots and lots of downloads. I've just seen a few sims who have had 10,000 downloads since they were posted in the last week.
I still have many questions about the gallery and Maxis favorites. How is it that some sims have lots of downloads, but not enough comments to trigger a maxis favorite. And then there are lots of Maxis favorites that nobody downloads.
I just don't understand people. Why comment or like a sim that you don't want to download? Why base maxis favorites on the number of comments and not the number of downloads or player favorites?

- ValiantRedKnight7 years agoSeasoned AceSo according to https://answers.ea.com/t5/Game-Information/MaxisCreator-01-content-tagged-as-Reported-Content/td-p/6952180/highlight/true
Hello.
It sounds like the Hide Reported Content filter is working as intended. It's a very aggressive filter; in your game it hides any content reported by any user, regardless of whether or not it violates EA's Terms of Service.
Also, any content that is deemed to violate EA's Terms of Service will be hidden by EA, regardless of whether or not the Hide Reported Content filter is enabled in your game.
EDIT: I should add that if you report content, that content should automatically be hidden to you regardless of whether or not the Hide Reported Content filter is enabled in your game. - claramj7 years agoNew Veteran

@pookysimslover the problem isn’t downloading a creation and recreating to your liking....the complaints I’ve heard is people actually going into the gallery and downloading and re-uploading a creation as if it was their own, without any cosmetic work done to the original. One simmer found his work re-uploaded and all the “re-uploader” did was change the day setting in hopes of disguising the work as his/her own. The originator found it and reported it.
Oh yeah I can see how that would be annoying and really bad! I would never do something like that, I can't see a reason to I can build my own lots and create my own Sims, I only re-upload if I have change it and I will always say at least that the original was done by someone else, usually I will say who the creator is and then what I changed too!
