I've been reading up and watching all the videos possible before purchasing the game later tonight. One person pointed out that mermaids can sleep and "relieve" themselves in the water (when bladder is low) and pretty much it is possible to live in the water withoit needing to go on land very often EXCEPT to eat. I just thought this is silly. I know they have kelp (to turn other sims into mermaids or themselves human) BUT I think they should be able to "harvest food" maybe "dive for fish" & collect some kelp to eat & fish they can eat while in the ocean. It would be a simple animation of moving a piece of food to the mouth while in the water. I wish this was in the game. I think it would add more realism and an extra level of depth meaning mermaids if they choose can live entirely in the sea.

Yeah it's the one thing that particularly bothers me about them. Go eat fish you shark toothed little monster. Why are you getting out of the water to make a salad? Even if we only were able to eat like raw fish and regular kelp or something that would be ideal. It's not a deal breaker to me but it's weird.

I agree. My mermaid household is off grid and just lives in the water so I ran into this very issue just now. I put the fire pit down on their island but then I had the problem of dishes and leftovers...it's just a pain especially when I can feed a dolphin from the water for 2 simoleons but yet can't feed myself!!??Edited to add: I learned something new at least. Sims can throw trash into the bonfire so I don't have to put an ugly trash can on my island :)

I totally get not eating a plate of mac and cheese in the ocean, but even one simple animation for eating any harvestable and raw fish would be appreciated!

Shouldn't mermaids be able to free dive for normal seaweed/kelp on the buoys? And then eat those?

Anyone disappointed that mermaids cannot eat in the water?

At least eating raw fish and any produce (fruits/herbs/vegetables) should be there if those are in the inventory already.

So far, I managed to test fruits. She ate it while swimming but the animation was... buggy.

Yes it is! :( I hope the Sims team makes some improvements a few people have mentioned, one being able to eat.
