@Stormkeep, a majority of the game is involving the use of any electric device. Sims are drawn to them by obsession. It is like the sims are addicts to any and all electric devices. I have attempted to play households without them owning a TV, radio, computer, slablet, etc. A majority of the careers I have found do require the use of an electronic device at some point. I even hate that the sims resort to playing a game or surfing the web on their phones for fun and would disable that if possible.
I agree, I don't like that Sims 4 has pushed modern tech on the players. This iteration definitely revolves around modern, realistic, youthful aspects of current societies instead of focusing on offering us a blank slate with the tools to build our games to our own preferences. It's a disappointing mistake, but I'm still hoping we eventually get a way to change that. Only time will tell.
As for what's next, I really want another mythical or supernatural pack because they have really been dodging the deeper gameplay of the Occult players. Token Plantsims and temporary skeleton curses barely touched that edge of fantastical gameplay and I just hope that 2019 brings something really good for us. Ideally, I'd like to see a full-on Magic expansion with all kinds of spells and magic types and spellcasters and familiars, then later in the year, a Get to Class expansion pack that allows for college, high school, elementary school, and toddler pre-school.
