- littlesims3chick10 years agoRising AceSounds like Ea.... You can have great iterations of a game and then... Have one that looks nothing like the other. :o

I'm kind of glad kids are more or less "standardized" to be cute. It was actually the opposite in TS2, most of the times kids (and toddlers!) were super ugly, and they only got better when the aged up. I think it had something to do with certain assets (such as big noses or mouths) not fitting well in kids' sketons.
I beg to differ with Alexander Goth in TS2. Cute kid, but when he aged up...wow.
I think it's the same here. He was my 3rd generation heir's spouse. They were friends since they were children and when he aged up...I tried to give him a somewhat nice look but I just couldn't...
As for kids in general: I don't think I've ever had an ugly child in TS4. Fashion disasters sure, but they all look really cute  - > @Polyrhythm said:

It doesn't matter, as they get randomized when they transition from child to teen. So it won't look the way you designed your original teen when they age up from child. - Sharooonia5 years agoSeasoned AceYes and sometimes a cute child will grow into quite an ugly teenager and my children always grow up fat when they age up to teen. I assume this is because the game doesn't allow children to do any exercise that isn't dependent on the weather being good. They can only swim or use the monkey bars which was fine before seasons released but now it rains and snows a lot.

Yeah, kids are pretty same-y looking due to the limited CAS. They won't really show things like big noses or prominent chins until they age up. If I ever was making kids I would create them as teens then age them down :grimace:
thats my advice for everyone, and also... stop tweaking kids to make them look cuter (like making them bigger eyes, fat cheeks etc... all of those features turn into attrocities when they grow up. That's why all the premade kids turn out as the ugliest adultsi n this game, the devs keep tweaking them to make them cuter. I hate that, cuz firstly they lose their parents genetics in this process, and secondly they don't need big eyes/ears/cheeks to be cute. what t...
@cement I don't think kids inherit anything from anyone beyond their parents in Sims 4. CAS is pretty, easier and more fun to use in SIms 4, but besides that its the worst CAS when it comes to the actual DNA/family/sim personality of all 4 games. It never has the depht we think it has.- Yet, Teen -> Young Adult doesn't change appearance at all.
- Yes !!! It is really annoying. Some cute kids turn into really well questionable looking teens !
- permanentrose5375 years agoSeasoned AceThankfully we can edit them in CAS full edit mode
- Gamer_Cat245 years agoRising ScoutTo avoid the kids from looking weird, I tend to create them as teens in the CAS, and then age them down. They end up looking kind of weird as kids doing that, but they will look as adults.
I do have kids that haven born in game, and will most likely edit them when they become teens.
i also find that having a sim that is buff with a sim that is fairly skinny can lead to quite a bit of awkward teens. They tend to have kids with a buffer upper body, and skinny legs. I try to get a mixture of the body types, unless I am basing the Sims after a preexisting character.
