- I love them too and honestly they are really delivering good content with the sliders and all. But I'm just wondering, if they could add those features into the game, why not do it from the start? Not just the skin tones but also the sliders.

That's a good question. They should have added them from the start.
I've never played Sims 3, but I heard that its CAS was more in-depth than Sims 4. Seems like that would have carried over to Sims 4, but it didnt.- SEREFRASSeasoned VeteranThat's why I kept going back to Sims 3. The Color Wheel & Sliders were great.
It only took over 6 years for Sims 4 to finally come up with Color Slides.
My daughter & I have recently noticed that Sims 4 is slowly becoming the best of Sims 3. We are so happy about that. :) - ChadSims2Seasoned NoviceNo thanks here from me at this point I only find this update insulting seeing as they only fixed the darker skin tones adding 100 or so swatches while leaving the light ones as bad as it always has been.
- I really appreciate the addition of the color sliders but honestly it should have been available from the start, so I don't think it's something worth congratulating EAxis for.
But it's still a good addition that comes without requiring players to purchase a pack, I guess."itolduso;c-17713189" wrote:

As someone who played 4 first and then 3, I don't think that's necessarily true. You might be thinking of Create-a-Style, tattoos, and custom colors for clothing, which is a huge plus for the Sims 3, but Sims 3's CAS still lacks a lot of features that was introduced in Sims 4, such as the ability to keep your hairstyle for your hats, options for men to wear female clothing (and perhaps vice versa), wearing accessories on both arms rather than mostly put on your right arm, walk styles, expanded gender options, and its more intuitive pinch and pull system.
I still don't think it's any excuse to leave out some things that made the Sims 3 better, however. Sims 4 ideally should be an upgrade to Sims 3 in every way and I'll still lament the lack of Create-a-Style in Sims 4 for eternity. "SimmerGeorge;c-17713140" wrote:

There are SOOO many things they logically should have added from the start but if you do that - what are you going to do for the next five or more years? LOL!
Like the modders who can figure out how to fix things but somehow it's impossible for the developers to add?- CAPTAIN_NXR7Seasoned VeteranI’m looking forward to the patch. And although I do think that there are now way more choices for darker skin tones (in all fairness, there were always more dark tones compared to light tones ??♂️ - neither light or dark was great) I’m going to wait and see how the light/ dark sliders work on the fairer skin tones before I form a final opinion in this.
- SharoooniaNew SpectatorI appreciate the effort made for those that needed this update. I still think more work needs to be done though. It doesn't bother me much but I've seen others complain of lacking improvements for the lighter skin tones.
Also I'm not looking forward to this patch. It's going to break my favourite custom default skins and I have no idea if the creator is still around to fix them. - I'm happy they're adding more darker tones but I'm disappointed in how there's seemingly been no improvement to pale tones, they aren't functional at present as they're literally yellow. Maybe the sliders will bring better tones but I'm not hopeful.
Also tan skin tones seem to be still very lacking aswell, looks like there's still about two which is a shame.
It just feels like to me they fixed the dark tones because of the outrage and then called it a day when there's a lot more that still needs to be done. Feels like the pale tones aren't important as it isn't a "woke" issue.
For context I turned off all my CC and here's the existing pale tones:SpoilerYellow, unusable:

Slightly darker yellow:

This one is ok I guess, can't really fault it:

Then it goes back to yellow and tan tones.
So essentially there's one single usable pale tone in the game. One. "SERVERFRA;c-17713201" wrote:

When they were called out by the Game Changers they should have announced to the community something like this.
"We have been working on the improvement of all skintones since it was brought to our attention 6 years ago. We are in the process of having it playtested before we have it goes beta to get out any issues that might occur with all skintones"
By saying this and meaning it, it would have demonstrated that they were paying attention to what African American Simmers were complaining about for over 6 years. Instead, they were caught with their pants down and to avoid things like bad press they decided they had to quickly try to fix it as fast as they can.
It should have been worked from the first complaint let African American simmers know they are working hard or fixing it and let the community know how during the 6 years how progress is coming in fixing skintones.
I don't have high hopes about it being fixed.
