Are Game Changers Still Relevant?

I hate Let's Plays, so I never watched them. The Game Changers program exists because they're relevant and push sales. They also had a lot to do with getting the devs to finally update skintones.

I never cared. I just watch a YouTuber if i like their stuff but idc whos a gamechanger and who's not

I have become tired of the near constant game bashing. They’re apathetic about the game because they jumped on the focus on the negative band wagon and now it’s a self fulfilling prophecy. I don’t deny there are improvements that can be made, I also feel the devs are truly striving to make them too. But that’s not enough for a lot of people. We got the major update on skin tones and yes there are still definitely major issues on consoles without a doubt, but the GCs who for the most part play on pc then just switched to griping that it took too long. I own all of the dlc and there are so many parts of the game I haven’t explored yet, part of the boredom the GCs have is they play dlc exclusively when it drops rather than incorporating it into existing gameplay and letting new things unfold over time which draws the discoveries out over a longer period of time. I used to watch a lot of GC videos but honestly, I am mostly over it now.

I would rather have them than nothing at all... the program is not perfect, but it is nice to be able to see someone play the pack and give their opinions about it. I do feel that some of them are overreacting a bit, calling packs "the best packs ever" and things like that. But that's about it.

Some of them that I am watching does seem to suffer from burnout. I watched James Turner a lot and he makes very few videos these days, from what I have read it's because he had it rough during lockdown. They have opened up a little bit more now, and he seems to be making some videos now.

I still think that gamechangers are relevant, but I hope that EA and Maxis understands that it is not easy to be a sims youtube channel. It's very difficult to be successful on youtube unless you make regular content and I don't think it's easy to get views for regular sims videos or make them interesting all the time.

Honestly, if you ask me, the problem is not that gamechangers are not relevant, the problem is that the sims is not relevant, compared to other games or media.

I have never cared about the 'title' of a Game Changer, but I do enjoy watching some of them on YouTube, but I don't watch because they're a Game Changer if that makes any sense?

I love let's plays! I only follow like three sim YT channels and I don't think any of them are game changers. So i guess I don't really care :D

Of course they're still relevant. They get early access to packs and share their opinions on it, they share news as they learn about things, they give feedback when they can. They show off assets and features so that players know what they're in for.

GCs are sims fans just like everyone else. It's not a "hate bandwagon" or anything, the game's been out for 6 years and some things are truly inexcusable. They know who their viewers are and try to amplify their voices. And just like a lot of people who feel apathetic and jaded about the game, they want it to be a good game and still have hope, but it's very easy to be disappointed after 6 years.

It's worth finding a GC that's close to your play style if you do want their opinions. Don't complain about a GC that mostly builds when they don't point out gameplay issues, stuff like that.

The problem with Let's Plays is that they need to change up the way they do it instead of just recording themselves playing for 20-30 minutes. Cut out the deadspace of nothing happening, create interesting sims with storylines, and stick to it. It's easy to let the game take control and drive you back to playing the same exact way you always do because the sims have no personality and all react the same way. And when everyone falls back into the same pattern, it's not interesting. I think LP youtubers are trying to do things the old way and are frustrated it's not doing as well, so they just stop instead of trying to find a way to make it work.

I only watch Sims YT videos when I need to learn how to do something, whether it's how to do a specific build trick or some game play function I can't figure out.

I have never, ever watched a "Let's Play" video for any of The Sims games. I haven't seen the point in it since I own the game, I can just play it myself. Now, if I was on the fence as to whether I would want to purchase a game, I might watch a "let's play" just to see what it was about and if it would be something I was interested in.

I really can't tell, personally I do not watch any of them cuz none I know of actually play in a way I'd find interesting.
