Are some sims "protected" from death by default?

I've been trying to kill this sim named Baby Ariel since forever and no matter what I do she won't die. -When I starve her, the moment when she is suppossed to die, a playful music plays, she grabs...

I've had a few sims in my game who were random townies that were immortal. I'm not sure what causes it. One of them is now a played sim and she still doesn't age. I don't think this is strictly attached to celebrities because I don't have GF.
