This is probably just me nitpicking, but has anyone else noticed that, since CL, townies with japanese sounding names tend to be always blonde? I noticed that their other facial features usually match the japanese name. I think the devs meant to make their hair always black, but something went wrong. It happens too much in my game for it to be just a coincidence. It's not a huge deal, but....
I think it's a huge deal. It's annoying that the new generated sims, since CL was released, that all the names are of asian and middle eastern descent no matter what they look like. It's overkill, and as you have experienced, it often doesn't match. I go in to CAS to change their name. I recently had a blonde girl who had an asian named and changed it to Heather McDonald. haha, because she clearly was a blonde, white chick, not an asian.
There's a good Scottish name!
I do the same thing, and some of the outfits they show up in are horrendous!
That's my RL wife's name (
Heather)- (She's of Irish descent).
Of course her last name "Chikamori" tends to raise eyebrows. She went to a Japanese Culture class at university and ended up shocking the rest of the class during roll-call; not expecting her to have a Japanese last name (due to marriage). Yeah, there are things like AMWF marriages. That could be the result of what you could consider some of the non-Asian looking Sims...unless they really don't look half/half... My kids are half Caucasian/half Asian. And two of them are boys which means that they carry on the family name. And when genes get diluted...
you get the picture.
Would you believe he's 1/4 Japanese?

THEN...there's adoption.

So basically you got two choices when it comes to non-Asian looking townies with Asian sounding names. You can either go to fixing the problem by changing names or fixing up the townie to look Asian...or you can just make up a back-story for them and go about your business. I tend to do the latter - it's less onerous.
Oh...and just for good measure. Here's a hafu. Japanese father/Irish American mother.

Don't look too Asian: do he?

Mind blown yet?
