It's a word. In the Philippines, it means "girlfriend." I haven't seen it as a proper name, but I can see where it might be used that way.

Thanks for the information :) The interesting thing is that the two Nobyas in my game are both male :D Which makes me think the people, who came up with the name didn't know, what it means. Or at least they didn't know what it means in the Philippines.

It just made me think of something like the word "nobody". Like when someone just doesn't want to identify themselves and, when asked for a name mumbles "nobya".

"nobya" means fianceé in Tagbanwa. Nobuya is an actual Japanese name that can also be transliterated as Nobya. (Like how -kazu often is transliterated as -kaz)

Of course, the problem with using the Gallery to fill NPC roles is that I'd end up with a town full of Channing Tatums and Kylie Jenners, but frankly that'd be a small price to pay. At least they wouldn't be ugly.

The problem with that is that you'll need to be online for them to pull townies from the Gallery, and we all know how pissed Simmers would be

I don't have any with blond hair. But I do have a lot of Asian and Indian townies. In fact that's all the generated one's seem to be now. I think I will maybe have to mix it up a bit more. I've also noticed that some generated Sims have the same names as Sims already in the game. I had my Sim marry someone called Shingo Tanaki. After he'd died I noticed there was another Shingo in the game but with a different last name, but when I looked at his household the original name had been Tanaki but he'd remarried and now had his wife's surname. I know that obviously in the real world you can come across people with the same name, it's just not very helpful in a game like the Sims, as it starts to get really confusing.

I used the random name generator for my baby girl the other day in my Breed Out The Ugly challenge, and the first name it came up with was Lakshmi. The second name was Michael and the third was plum :s Interesting choices :D

Ok its changed the word to plum, let's just say it's the name that a certain Muslim group uses. How crazy that I can't post it on the forum, but it's actually in the game. I know it's a real name as well, it's just unfortunate that these people use it as the name for their organisation.

Yes, I hate that too, so many of mine are Evil, Mean, or Hate children, even when they are parents!!
But ... I have a question. What do you mean about putting the wardrobes in community lots? Do you mean a dresser or locker type thing like you click on in their house to change their clothes? I'm trying to figure out if you mean there's a way to change a townie's clothes without putting them into your family for a minute?

It’s normal if you have nearly identical Japanese townies. Most of the townies that were Japanese that were generated by my game had the last name Watanabe.

Ever seen a Japanese telephone directory? Watanabe are as common as Suzuki. As for my last name; you have to gp to Kyoto before you run into them and they’re still not all that common. In Canada there are only three Chikamoris who have phone numbers. We all live in BC and its my mother, myself and my wife as well as our kids. That’s it. Two landlines; one cell-phone.

@GalacticGal -to me, the kid looks hafu. So maybe she married a Caucasian sim and got the last name that way. But then again I don’t know the logistics of you TS4 townie generation. But if it bothers you change the name or change her in CAS.

@aaronrulz - You wanna know the reason why we use “Caucasian names like John, Alfred, Mike, David? Mainly because our asian names are a royal pain for y’all to pronounce. Take for example my name. HARUO Sounds simple enough, right. Nope 9 times out of ten you’re pronouncing it wrong. It’s not Har-ooh-oh; it’s Ha rue (likethe french word for street) o (short o like you got punched inthe gut while saying oh. That’s why you see a bunch of Asians running around with Anglicized names. ;).
