This is probably just me nitpicking, but has anyone else noticed that, since CL, townies with japanese sounding names tend to be always blonde? I noticed that their other facial features usually match the japanese name. I think the devs meant to make their hair always black, but something went wrong. It happens too much in my game for it to be just a coincidence. It's not a huge deal, but....

I add in my own townies from the gallery because the automatically generated townies always have the weirdest fashion sense.

I honestly think random townies need to be pulled from the Gallery, Spore-style, instead of just being randomly generated.I keep getting young adults with grey hair, or worse, bright purple goatees and afros.Of course, the problem with using the Gallery to fill NPC roles is that I'd end up with a town full of Channing Tatums and Kylie Jenners, but frankly that'd be a small price to pay. At least they wouldn't be ugly.

It's annoying that the new generated sims, since CL was released, that all the names are of asian and middle eastern descent no matter what they look like. It's overkill, and as you have experienced, it often doesn't match. I go in to CAS to change their name. I recently had a blonde girl who had an asian named and changed it to Heather McDonald. haha, because she clearly was a blonde, white chick, not an asian.

Yeah I mostly edit most of my townies too using cad.fulleditmode. It's so time consuming and I'm not always inspired to create new sims. The devs should learn from the team who created Xcom 2: the game gets the soldiers from a character pool which the player can fully edit as they please. Only when the character pool runs out of soldiers the game starts creating random ones if necessary.

All my generated sims have Asian sounding names and almost none of them look Asian! I just keep deleting as many as possible and using cas.fulleditmode to change the names on the ones I have to keep, such as the maid, butlers, etc.

I haven't paid much attention to the ethnicity of the game created sims in my game, but one thing I find weird is that there are now at least two sims in my game called Nobya. I mean, is that actually a name in any language? And I honestly don't know. Perhaps it is, and I have no intention of insulting anyone by that name. But it I can't help it sounding a bit made up. So, correct me, if I'm wrong.

It's a word. In the Philippines, it means "girlfriend." I haven't seen it as a proper name, but I can see where it might be used that way.

Thanks for the information :) The interesting thing is that the two Nobyas in my game are both male :D Which makes me think the people, who came up with the name didn't know, what it means. Or at least they didn't know what it means in the Philippines.

It just made me think of something like the word "nobody". Like when someone just doesn't want to identify themselves and, when asked for a name mumbles "nobya".

I'll go through Manage Households and delete the townies that don't appeal to me and edit the ones that do. I came across an Asian-named female Sim and thought she had potential, so I went into fulledit mode and gave her eyes just a little more of an angle and changed her hair style and color -- turned out she was a vampire as well so that's very cool; I may actually save her to my Library and put her in my main vampire save for my klepto vampire to meet and romance.

I feel like i'm one of the few that actually likes the townies from CL .. I mean, if there's a family that has horrible fashion I just delete them so the game and generate a new one. However, I find it fun to see so many different styles. I mean, I saw a guy on tumblr today with pink hair and beard and yes i'm serious. It looked good and went, huh, it's not that weird after all. So seeing a dude in game with pink hair and beard made me think of him which kind of made in instantly more realistic than before.

Maybe it's because sims don't judge eachother, so it doesn't matter how they look haha.

If it doesn't matter how Sims look in any of these games why is there a fashion police? lol I beg to differ, about their clothes, a formal is not skimpy shorts, a swimsuit top, and cowboy boots and baseball cap and some weird sunglasses.

I seem to remember everyone in TS2 wouldn't let their Sims date or marry TS2 townies..and there was good reason since Maxis overly exaggerated their faces, mouths and noses etc. It's not any different now.

Will this be fixed any time? All of my NPCs are called Nakamura or Juaréz. Can there be more black people? More European (Norwegian, Italian etc.) people? Not just Sims with sn Asian or Spanish name? Like... all of them?

Yessss. Thank God someone said it.
I love the different cultures, but there are so many Asian names and features that it's not even diverse. All of my Sims are Asian or part Asian. There's many middle eastern names as well, but almost every sim is Asian. Like why aren't there Italian, Irish, Spanish names? Lol

This would be a great idea, it is so frustrating to change them all seperatly ingame.
