Autonomous suicide by cowplant

I am currently playing the asylum challenge and I have a cowplant inside my asylum and they are always opting to eat the cake when they are hungry vs getting food, but never when they have the drained moodlet. I am wondering if anyone has witnessed their sims taking the cake from the cowplant when they have the drained moodlet?
  • The drained moodlet lasts for 2 days. It is very possible for a sim to still have the moodlet when it's time for the same cowplant that ate them the 1st time to be ready to feed again, ie, stick their cake out.

My point is, my sims never opt to take the cake when they have the drained moodlet. They always go to the fridge for food. HOWEVER, if they don't have the drained moodlet they always go for the cake.

Which leads me to believe, perhaps the game is coded to not let the sims autonomously commit suicide by cowplant.
  • they never do. lnce they habe the drakned moodlet you have to "force" them to eat another cake. its what annoys me most about the cowplant in s4. but there is a mod which makes the cowplant always deadly.

I believe your Sim will die the third time, they grab the cake.

    It's the second time.
  • Thankfully, no. I was very worried about the Dad, however, as he was often getting swallowed up. I would then step in and keep him occupied doing something else until he 'recovered'. This was in my earlier 18th century game save, where I'm playing my Ancestors. Dad was my seven times great-grandfather! He most certainly wasn't allowed to die, yet. He had more children to bring into the world! Eventually, I removed the Cow Plant.

It's generally coded to minimize "unplanned" deaths. The only times I have had sims die unexpectedly is when mods were responsible (or probably responsible) for the situation. Mainly teens with emotional deaths. (I don't have a mod to intentionally cause that, but a couple of likely candidates.) And in most of those, pleading to the Grim Reaper has actually worked.
  • The Cowplant gets hungry about every twelve hours, actually. But whenever they eat someone, if you don't milk them, they will go quite a bit longer without putting out the cake. Their udder is larger in this case. When you milk them, you will get a glass of the essence of whatever mood the Sim they ate, was in. If you want the Sim who became Drained to recover from that immediately, just have them drink this.
  • I became aware of this because I was actually hoping one of my sims would take the cake for the 2nd time when they were drained. However, since I was playing the asylum challenge, I am not allowed to control any of the other sims other than my main sim, that is how I noticed they would never take the cake for the 2nd time while they had the drained moodlet.

This is kind of hopeful for other games when I do have a cowplant. I won't have to worry about my sims going for it when they have the drained moodlet. I didn't know this was something they wouldn't do.

if there's only one cowplant around, it's hard to do that. the cowplant only sticks the cake out when it's hungry, and it seems to only get hungry if not fed in 24 hours. when trying to get sims killed by cowplant (while collecting every ghost), i had to actually put two cowplants on the lot at the same time and let them both get hungry before a sim would actually be eaten

Yeah, this--But every 12 hours as @"Livin in Sim" said. Autonomy with multiple cowplants assures a cowplant death when you have a hungry sim, definitely.
My sims in my branch family would've been wiped out by now since they have 5 cowplants in their basement laboratory. They hop in there every other time, even when they have the drained moodlet (which I have, so far, prevented) :joy:

That's good to know! Thank you! @Cement and @kalaksed
