Emma is currently a YA in university. So, she has quite a bit of time to sort out the love-partnership-family aspects of her life.Valentine's Day (yes, rejigged and renamed holidays) rolls around. Emma decides to participate. Unable to get her brand new acquaintance Cameron Fletcher to stick around for longer than a single ping pong game, Emma looks and sees another fellow student she introduced herself to earlier in the semester.Jun Aoki has the random NPCs usual poor taste in fashion. But his face isn't too bad (if you ignore the glasses he put on with his cold weather outfit, they were horrible ones). Checking he's single, Emma asks him for a drink in the spirit of the holiday.The go on a date to Peppers Pub. It's going alright until Emma learns in one foul swoop that Jun is mean, evil and a perfectionist! :o Now, Emma has time. And occasionally a girl has to kiss a whole bunch of frogs before she finds a prince. I'm about to quietly let Jun slip into the background, "thanks but no thanks", you know? However, I'm wondering if anyone thinks I should give him a chance? Are the mean and evil traits really that bad? {side note, Emma is a CAS story creation so she has the dastardly bonus trait herself}

I can handle the evil trait, but never the mean trait.

I often have evil sims looking to do very evil things indeed and i love that for thembut I've yet to ever really make mean sim :sweat_smile: not sure whyperhaps its just the brain image thing because evil makes me think of fancy villain people and mean just makes me think of someone who is mean a lot for no real reasons :sweat_smile: I think evil perfectionist wouldn't be too bad to date i mean they could still be very caring of their close ones and just be evil to some other sims(maybe theyre looking to turn whole simearth into fashion disaster who knows)but mean... yeah that does bother methough taking in account dastardly trait maybe they can be dastardly together

Usually, once I see the Mean, Evil, or Kleptomaniac traits, that sim gets marked for death. Once in awhile, if they have something I can make use of (good looks, otherwise good traits, or they do something that endears me to them on screen), I'll lift them into played households, get them the rewards points, then use the Re-Traiting Potion to strip the bad off 'em.

I think you often get a bad modlet from your Sim, I think it is something like "Feeling bad due to bad encounter with a Sim nearby"

Evil power couple?Or just an ill-chosen college relationship that Emma learns some lessons from and moves on?My Billie Jang has the Kleptomaniac trait- got it when she aged up into a teen. It has turned out to be a fun and interesting, sometimes annoying, but a great personality flaw for a character who is otherwise a golden child with no real problems. She is also a Goofball with a high Comedy interest and skill (taking after her comedian dad) so it works well as a pranky funny teen personality who sometimes goes too far and makes her loved ones angry.I think negative traits are a great solution to the "all my sims are the same" or "my sims all get along too well with everyone" problems.

Bad traits or just bad attitude??

I don't think they are that bad, though I probably never have had mean AND evil sim. That could be interesting to try :smile:

One of my favourite sims is mean and sometimes he tries to autonomously yell or say some mean things to his friend, and spouse too I think. Sometimes I let him do that and sometimes I stop him. I think it makes playing more interesting that some sims aren't always good. I kind of play him so that if he gets irritated then he blurts things out. Sometimes they argue a bit and maybe make up and sometimes they just let it slide, because the sims that are close to him know what he is like.

One of my sims rolled childish, mean, and evil. I thought she would be more fun, but she has a decent reputation, is never mean to her husband, and is only occasionally mean to her child. The child bit adds a sentiment, but nothing major and it goes away.

Honestly, if you don't have mods that change that behavior, then the traits do very little overall and the task of making them act a certain way will fall to the player.

One of my sims married a random townie who turned out to be Mean. She was the first sim I’d encountered with that trait and she wasn’t much fun. I had to micromanage her all the time as if I left her to her own devices she always did something unkind. When they had children I constantly found her on her way to smash the doll house. When she finally died of old age I thought I’d be able to relax but the first time she came back as a ghost, the first thing she did was smash the doll house! I can cope with Evil and Perfectionist but not Mean, no way.

he is the loving patriarch (now ghostly) of a 5-generation legacy that I may continue someday

Oh yeah, that stupid dollhouse. I don't usually have them in homes because everyone smashes them including the kids! And then they cry about it!!!

Yeah, that is an annoying part about those traits. I usually avoid those objects.
