Everytime my sim goes to make a cake, I always struggle, get lost and hit bake. Why don't we bake cookies, or bake cakes? I get that Get to work added baking. Keep all of those recipes exclusive to Get to Work so people don't lose content, but baking as a skill should always have been base game.Anyone who cooks will tell you that Baking/cooking are two completely different skill sets. We have enough food items in the base game alone to fill out a base game baking skill, and plenty of pack recipes like Get to Work, Cottage living pies etc, and now wedding cakes (which could be gourmet.)

100% agree. It drives me nuts every single time trying to find which baked goods are under baking and which are under cooking.

What's even worse is what few cakes that ARE under the baking skill can't be used for birthday's or weddings even....all other cakes in the game can.

While I in principle agree, Get to Work would need at least one additional skill if they took out baking too (since they already took out photography). Maybe some retail/craft specific skills like toy making, sewing or chocolatier.

I could see this being controversial, but I 100% agree with OP.

While I in principle agree, Get to Work would need at least one additional skill if they took out baking too (since they already took out photography).
Maybe some retail/craft specific skills like toy making, sewing or chocolatier.

Sign me up for any of those. I particularly wish there was a skill specifically for retail owners. I know you get the perks for the business itself, but what about a Sim household that wants several different retail stores. There should be some kind of skill that allows their experience in one help when setting up a 2nd, 3rd, etc.

I wouldn't really care since all of the recipes would still be exclusive to get to work, and get to work has the most baking recipes, including the ability to sell baked goods.

I agree and GTW does have the cupckake machine to distinguish it, though an additional culinary skill would be a welcome addition if they update it.

I own get to work and agree that baking should be base game. Every time I need a birthday cake, I want sims to be able to bake a cake. With all the new recipes, the list in the cooking menu is getting really long so it would be good if cakes were sorted correctly, even if this means adding a little part of a pack to base game. The GTW baking recipes should remain exclusive to that pack. GTW has enough value of it's own with retail, aliens and the active careers.

You can't actually make a birthday cake with the baking skill. The only cakes which take birthday toppers (or wedding toppers) are the ones made with the cooking and gourmet cooking skills.
