Ballrooms and slow dancing

I’ve recently gotten really into forgotten hollow as I moved the Goths there and upgraded them into a lavish and old money styled, Victorian style mansion. I picked out a few houses but the one I settled on has a huge grand ballroom in the basement and it’s so amazing.

Then I have them throw a party guests arrive, drinks are being served, the Butler has prepared a great meal, and Cassandra starts playing beautiful music on the piano.

And then they start dancing like a bunch of teenagers at a nightclub and the whole scene is ruined. Really has me longing for not just slow dancing, but waltzes and dancing that matches the music being played.

I’d love to be able to build a proper ballroom venue where I could have elaborate balls, jazz nights and even teen dances. Please devs add more magic to the dancing skill.

They had it in sims 2 as well. Heck, sims in the first sims game could even dance together though it was a bit more quirky.
  • We need the Flowers of Edinburgh and the Dance of the White Cockade! These are old Scottish country figures. Lots of toe-pointing and hops. Very popular in the mid 18th century colonial America. My sixth great-grandfather apparently was very good at these. ;) the Minuet used to be performed by a single couple so that the rest on the dance floor could evaluate how well they performed the steps. ;)

We genuinely need a slow dance, where couples actually dance together. Weddings just aren't the same without that. Plus, the father-daughter dance and the mother-son dance.
  • I kind of hope they link it to an object somehow but not sure how they can... like if a radio is playing on a certain station, or someone is playing a musical instrument (or maybe when we can set up some sorts of bands). It sounds complicated no matter how you look at it.
I guess we could decide just to do it with our own sims but I'd like the dance to match the music. Besides it would be weird if sims are autonomously doing very wrong dance types outside of our control to music.

Reminds me in the Sims 2 when my sims went to this restaurant and there was classical music playing and they started dancing like they were getting down in a club

Now that I think about it it I don't think there's really any installment where sims are just slow dancing to a certain music.

Perhaps, there could also be an item for a dance floor that works just for slow dancing?

Currently, if your Sim is acquainted with the culture of the people in JA, they can do the Rumba. They've given it another name, of course. But it doesn't matter what music, I can have my Sim do that dance. I think this ability to dance together (slow dance) can be patched in.

Yes they slowdanced in both TS2 and TS3. In TS3 slowdancing came with Seasons.

A dance pack is what we're lacking!

Several styles of ballroom/dance hall, each to go with dances of varying eras.

    English country dance:
Popular dances in England from the late 1500's, they reached a peak in the late 1700's/early 1800's, but are still danced today by historic social clubs. They are the dances in every single Jane Austen drama

@hmae123 LOL. Just started cracking up when I pictured that in my head. I've only had dancing at school dances or nightclubs, so I never noticed that before, but I could see where it would be a problem in other settings.

The other thing that is totally out of place is when you try to have a sim take a picture of another sim and the sim having their picture taken is elderly or has a serious personality, and then they do some ridiculous instagram-like pose which totally doesn't make any sense. That bugs me so much. Similar problem.

    It was pretty funny.
  • I put a ballroom in my game recently so my sims could have a party destination to celebrate but the dancing kind of sucks, so I would love to see a "Ballroom dance" and "Slow dance" added to the game.
