Basketball - is there a way to reduce its attractiveness?

I see quite a few Sims become bored with the Spice Festival or the Flea Market, wander over to the adjacent outdoor basketball court, spin into their active wear, and work on their game. It doesn't seem to be restricted to Sims with the Active trait, or those with high Fitness levels, either. I've never seen a hoops addiction get in the way of romance, though.

At least, not in the Sims. I have a friend whose wife might disagree when March Madness rolls around each year.
