Birthdays with rotational play and calendar

I have aging set to only active household. I play rotation. One sims week per household. Now with seasons how does that work with the calendar? When I switch houses will that sim automatically age accordinly to the set birthday on the calendar? I really don't want aging off completly. The calendar doesn't just stop when you switch houses, it keeps going. So with aging set to only active household I am guessing all sims that are not currently active will age anyways.

  • I think the only way a sim would age up would be if they blew out their birthday cake. I think (and I hope I'm not wrong) but the birthday doesn't have anything to do with them aging up to the next level, but I think it just has to do with that they are a year older, not a whole life stage older. I mean by that is I have aging set for long, and my seasons for 4 weeks long. A year for my sims is 28 days, and my young adult sims live for 90 days (not counting the other life stages). So you shouldn't have to worry about them aging up, just don't have your sims go to any birthday parties, to avoid any unnecessary aging up, from the other sims as well.
  • I've switched households since having Seasons and the birthdays only show up on the calendar of the household I'm playing at that time. I think aging up as a process is the same (if aging is on they will age automatically on the day indicated or with the bday cake). I think the birthdays are in the calendar purely so you can plan events around it/for it (but unfortunately there's a bug at the moment that stops you from planning events in advance).

Thanks for your responses. That makes sense.
  • No wait, now I'm also confused. If I'm playing a houshold on a Thursday and a sim's birthday (when they age up) is in two days on a Saturday in spring, and I switch to another household for four days with aging off for other households, then if I switch back to the other household, it should be a Monday in Summer, so the birthday on the calendar would have been passed, but since aging was off, I still have those two days to go with that sim before they age up, so would their birthday suddenly have jumped to two days in the future, which is now in the summer? That would defeat the purpose of planning a birthday party in advance for a sim who's about to age up. But it if it didn't change on the calendar, when would my Sim age up?
  • You sim should age up when their age bar tells them to age up. If you plan on their birthday party, and have them blow out their candles they will automatically age up regardless. So you can go as planned with the birthday party. But just remember that the birthday on the calendar is not something I would plan on aging my sims up with.
  • Side note, I like that you can celebrate birthdays every year now but it feels weird not to be able to blow out the candles. I guess you could light them...just not blow them out. It'll be nice to occasionally have childrens' birthday parties without them aging up to a teen.
