Bored Moodlet 'Been there, done that'

I haven't played sims for some time, and over the holidays, I acquired the Snowy Escape pack. I made a new sim with an outdoorsy, adventurous trait, and I hoped for this sim to succesfully complete the mountain expedition. Levelling up on climbing skills is quite slow, and a bit of a grind, but he's finally progressing. As soon as he hit level eight though, he suddenly keeps getting this 'been there, done that' bored moodlet whenever I get him to practice climbing. Is this stemming from the adventurous trait? I don't think I've ever seen this type of moodlet before in any of my sims from previous saves, and even sims in his household don't ever get this moodlet. He's my only adventurous sim, so I wonder if this is the reason? It's quite frustrating as he's not even gone on the excursion yet. How is this moodlet going to affect the success of the expedition? I was waiting until he's a little bit better off financially, and I was waiting for him to reach level 9 so he can craft his own bars. It seems such a shame that after all this preparation, and now that he's finally getting closer to his goal, that he's suddenly bored of doing this!

I think the boredom is probably coming from a Lifestyle, not the Adventurous trait. Likely culprits are Adrenaline Seeker and Frequent Traveler.

I am certain I had toggled off lifestyles, but I will check again when I get back to my game. I'd be relieved, actually, if lifestyle is the culprit. But if this is toggled off in my save then the game must be buggy.
  • I believe that I have found a solution to making this boredom issue less annoying. There seem to be a time frame before the sim becomes bored with what they are doing. It's a small time frame, but there is one. Now to make this boredom issue less annoying, just extend that time frame. In other words, make it so that it takes longer for a sim that's an adrenaline junky to become bored with what ever he or she is doing.

I get the moodlet with my one Adventurous sim and I have Lifestyles turned off. That said, I did have them on for a while, but she was still getting the moodlet before the lifestyle kicked in.
  • I get that boredom all the time with my dance machine trait sim. Constantly bored if not dancing.?
I think it's realistic honestly. My sister is the outdoorsy adventurer type and she is CONSTANTLY bored and always looking for something new and exciting. When we were kids my mom use to shout STOP SAYING YOU'RE BORED ALL THE TIME THIS IS LIFE! lol

But in the case of the sims I have not noticed the bored moodlet affecting any of his performances or stopping him from doing things like certain other moodlests can. So I ignore it. I'm just like I don't care if you're bored do what I told you ??

The bored moodlet doesn't affect their performance at all. What's annoying about it is the fact of how often a sim gets bored.
  • True, it does get very annoying, and however this moodlet was implemented, it was not thought through well enough, I think. A sim with a dance machine trait gets bored if he/she isn't dancing, that makes perfect sense as the trait and activity were meant to go together. But an adventurous sim getting bored in the midst of adventurous activity doesn't make sense at all. If he gets bored reading or watching TV because he'd rather be outdoors climbing or skiing, then yes, that would be realistic for his traits.
True, I can just force my sims to do whatever, but the bored moodlet really detracts from the gameplay and story when it pops up at the most inopportune and contradictory moments. And if being bored with the two skills he's developed so far is any indication, does this mean he will get bored with every other skill he develops? Where's the fun in that, and what's the incentive to continue playing with this sim if boredom is the inevitable result. I can probably live with this if the moodlet only pops up occasionally, but it seems permanently attached to the activity.
  • An adventurous sim getting bored in the middle of an adventurous activity shouldn't have happened at all.
