I've done that a few times. On a 50% sale I don't really mind as long as there are other features or a world that I can make use of. I got High School Years but never really followed a teen to school. I like the world (small but with good lots and a back story), and there's plenty of good CAS and BB. I have no plans of checking out the school feature quite yet if ever.
With For Rent it's a different cup of tea... I got it on release, but have not yet used the main feature - of obvious reasons. I like the world, but it is not enough to justify the purchase at full price.
When it comes to Lovestruck, I'm not focusing enough on romance in my game to justify a full cost EP with this theme, besides I prefer controlling who my sims end up with. The world looks good, but the pack has too little outside the theme for me to grab it at release. I might get it a t 50% later. Happy for all who want the romance improved, and it actually looks well thought out, but I know I will not pay much attention to those details in my game, anyway. Besides - leaving town the couple days before release and will stay away from my game for a few weeks to come... Perhaps my opinion has changed when I return :)
