Can you use any powers or weapons from other packs to defeat the Mother plant?

I would assume they did not program the ability to use magical powers or scientific devices (like for instance the SimRay with its freezing powers) to defeat the Mother plant from Strangerville?  Pity because it seems like that would make the game seem more immersive if you did have the ability to stretch things you learn from other packs over there.
